Quick warlock question

Does the temporary HP from Dark One's Blessing count towards having temp HP with Armor of Agathys?

For example, if I have 10 temp HP from the armor, get hit for 8, leaving 2, then kill the guy and get 5 temp HP from the blessing.  My total is now 5*, but do those 5 count towards the spell?  Would I loose the spell effect since the temp HP came from the blessing?  If I loose all temp HP and then gain more while the duration of the spell is still going is it back in effect since I now have temp HP again?

*Side question, do temp HP still not stack as in previous editions?

I'd love to make a blade-lock and I am trying to find as many useful combos as I can since the class is geared more toward being a ranged caster.

Thanks

Definitely ask your DM his interpretation, but I would say that once you get temp HP from another source, Armor of Agathys no longer functions.

And yes, temporary hit points never stack.

Armor of Agathys - "If a creature hits you with a melee attack while you have these hit points, the creature takes 5 cold damage."

Temporary Hit Points - "Healing can't restore temporary hit points, and they can't be added together. If you have temporary hit points and receive more of them, you decide whether to keep the ones you have or gain the new ones."

I bolded the most pertinent parts.

The rules, as outlined above, are unambiguous: temporary hit points from False Life will do nothing to extend or enhance the benefits of Armor of Agathys. The cold damage only triggers when you have the the temporary hit points granted by Armor of Agathys. If you decide to take the hit points granted by False Life, you no longer have any of those hit points granted by the Armor, and can no longer inflict the bonus cold damage.

Ganymede's interpretation is accurate. I agree with him.

Was thinking that damage resistance with Agathys would be pretty nice. Exiled Bear Tribe Barbarian turned deciple of Mephistopheles for revenge on his tribe, maybe.

That's pretty much what I figured the answer would be, but I'm seperated from my book for a good while so I wanted to check.

My concept is a dual weilding (yes I know it's not optimal) bladelock in heavy armor.  I could go with the pure warrior version I guess.  I might have to do some research on it to see if it talks to me.   Currently, my plan is to go F1 then Wk X.  I've thought about possibly bumping that up to F3 for the champion (yes, I know not the most effective, but for a dip it serves my purposes.) crit bonuses or even F4 around lvl 8 or so for the feat.  I don't know the spells that well, so I'm trying to figure out the different combinations to make the character as effective as I can be.  Armor and the temp HP from blessing or false life just seemed like a natural combination.  Getting Str+Cha on all melee attacks at lvl 12 looks nice too.  I'm operating on character level for the invocations and not warlock level FWIW.  If I do go for the F3 or 4 option I'll probably go half-orc for crit fishing.

I'll keep looking, but if anyone has any tips it would be appreciated.

I highly doubt that warlock invocations are based on character level, as this would make multiclass builds way more power-gamey than they need to be. A 10th level fighter taking his next two levels in warlock to get Lifedrinker reeks of the bad kind of power gaming to me. Why should 2 levels of warlock be more valuable at higher levels than at lower levels? Just my two cents.

If cantrips do not scale by character level, then that makes multi classing an instant trap-option for all casters.
