#1 reebo_kesh Aug 14, 2015 3:19:21	Ok this spell confused our group, or at least the rules pertainting to it. It says it requires 1 bonus action to cast but our 3rd level Ranger doesn't have a bonus action. So how does he cast it?   Does the spell grant a bonus action so he can cast the spell and then attack in the same round? or Does he take one action to cast the spell and then attack next round?   Once this question is cleared up it should cover any other spell related question involving bonus actions Thanks in advance Reebo
#2 Yunru Aug 14, 2015 5:32:28	Everyone has a bonus action. They just can't use it on anything until something says they can.
#3 mellored Aug 14, 2015 5:35:33	It takes a bonus action to cast the spell.   The next time you hit with a weapon attack, whenever that hit happens, the spell triggers. The spell does not give you any attacks, it just enhances your next hit.   Usually it's bonus action cast -> action to attack on the same turn.  But if you miss it stays around for next turn as long as you don't lose concentraion. It can also work on oppertunity attacks, volly, commander's strike, ect...  whenever you next hit with a weapon attack.   Note you cannot cast another non-cantrip spell if you cast a bonus action spell.  Not that it's usually a problem for a ranger.

#6 juengel Aug 16, 2015 1:47:03	As far as I know, You always have things like bonus action and reaction. You may  not have any abilities or spells that use them, but every character has one. You only get one a turn though so if you do something like volley, you can use ensaring strike on 1 attack and not every attack as you only have 1 bonus action.
