| #1TrebuchetAug 29, 2014 22:40:18 | Since rogues, monks (maybe others?), and any spellcaster with Expeditious Retreat can Dash as a bonus action, does that allow them to Dash twice in the same round? If so, these classes can move triple their move speed, easily outpacing anyone who doesn't have a similar ability.
I don't think it's a major issue if that's the case, but it does allow for some very annoying kiting tactics.
By the RAW Dashing twice isn't specifically disallowed, but I'm wondering if that's the intention or not. |
| #2melloredAug 29, 2014 22:57:12 | You can dash twice. It's intentional. |

| #6TrebuchetAug 30, 2014 13:15:20 | That's how I've been running it, so I'm glad I'm in the same page as everyone. I just re-read the dashing rules last night and I realized it wasn't explicitly stated either way. |

| #8DM_HEEGZAug 31, 2014 9:13:16 | I've only been allowing 90 feet, not 120 for the example you give. I'll have to reread the descriptions more closely. A monk able to double down that distance... |

There is no move action, it does not exist. Movement is a limited resource that you expend to change your position. So Dash gives you an additional pool of movement equal to your normal pool.
It's really kind of elegant in a way. |

| #13Danny_MontannySep 01, 2014 5:02:52 | The biggest thing to notice is that the example says, "you can move up to 60 feet" not "your speed becomes 60 feet." It's like difficult terrain. It doesn't reduce your speed, it just modifies your movement. Likewise, Dash is not a modifier to speed, but to movement. |
| #14UchawiSep 01, 2014 6:30:04 | The interesting question is whether you can take bonus actions outside of combat. |

| #16IorwerthSep 01, 2014 11:29:47 | Has it been confirmed that dash can be used more than once in a turn? By that, I mean two Dash actions stack together.
If it is, then it would seem that if your move was 30, if you used dash twice your speed would be 90, not 120. It says under Dash that the extra movement is equal to your speed. Speed is determined by your race and feats/special abilities etc. At least that is how I read it. So if your speed is 30, each dash gives you that speed as a bonus.

| #18ShermanSep 02, 2014 17:59:40 | I'm also in the camp that says Dash is a state, either Dashing or Not Dashing, and that you cap out at doubling your speed. There has been no official word. |
| (Reply to #18)Lucas_Blackstone | As several people have stated earlier, the Dash action states that it increases your movement by an amount equal to your speed. There is no restriction on taking the dash action more then once in a round or turn. The reason you can't do it normally is because you do not have enough actions to do so. Several classes do however.
