#1 cj95 Sep 13, 2015 21:13:05	Just hit level 3 with my Paladin and have a question on Sacred Weapon   I have STR and CHA  both at 16.   Does the CHa bonus stack with the STR bonus for the to hit roll?   Meaning do I add +3 +3 and +2 (Proficiency bonus) to my roll for a total of +8 to hit?   Seems op unless I am missing something.     Thanks.
#2 lawrencehoy Sep 14, 2015 0:43:38	Yes, you have it correct; the extra bonus (CHA) is emulating a magical bonus. So, in your case, it is as if your Paladin was wielding a +3 magic weapon (for 1 minute).
#3 Tempest_Stormwind Sep 14, 2015 22:44:05	Why would something that lasts only a minute (ten rounds, at most twenty attacks (some of which will still miss) not counting OAs) every short rest be op? (By the way, the general case answer is: look at the wording. If it says "adds" then it adds together, and if it says "uses" or "is", it replaces. Examples of the former are Sacred Weapon and the warlock's lifedrinker. Examples of the latter include Shillelagh and Mage Armor.)
