For Shield Master, it has no requirements. Therefore, could you select that feat and gain shield proficiency? |
| #2GrazelAug 27, 2015 19:09:29 | No you would not gain shield proficiency as it is not listed in the feat. You would gain the other feat options but otherwise would still not be considered proficient with a shield in all other respects unless you have shield proficiency from another source.
Shield Mastery gives you auxillary capabilities with a shield but not training in how to use them for the best overall defensive use. |

The feat doesn't give you proficiency in shields. It has no requirements, but the general rules state that you must be proficient with shields to gain the benefits of using one - You could take the feat without shield proficiency, but it would be pointless. |

Probable an oversight on their part
Thank you |

| (Reply to #6)Lucas_Blackstone | Shield Master is already very powerful as it is, and there is another feat that grants proficiency with shields, so I don't think it would be a proper addition. |
