When do the enemies get a save? Do they have to take an Action for Investigation? If they run into the fog is that enough to know it is an illusion? The spell says: " Physical interaction with the image reveals it to be an illusion, because things can pass through it." But of course you can pass through it. It's fog.
What is the bonus of this situation? I ruled that the enemies can't see him, so they attack with Disadvantage. In addition the warlock can attack with Advantage since the can't be seen when he attacks. |

It seems that an illusion of darkness/fog is better than actual darkness/fog, because it only hampers the enemy, not you.
I must admit that this worries me. What level is silent image? What level is darkness? Fog Cloud? It doesn't seem fair that silent image is better than the actual spell while still being more versatile. |

Darkness is level 2, but has a bigger area, no save, and can be cast on an object and move with it. That last part is quite useful. |

Completely covering the source of the darkness with an opaque object, such as a bowl or a helm, blocks the darkness." |
