| #3NoctaemMar 16, 2015 9:11:30 | Basically the spell might appear overpowered at first but really instead of save or suck it's roll well or suck. Most encounters you run into have enough HP on the table to make the spell less than amazing and boss battles usually have mobs with enough HP that the spell can't even affect them unless you max out almost all the dice (very unlikely). It's more a finisher spell, a round or two into battle you have some of the opponents at low hp then cast sleep to finish the encounter allowing allies to deal coup de grace attacks. I don't think a save is required at all from what I've seen. |

I know PF has a Save, but dang, I*ll have to pull out my older D&D books (or C&C) and see if there was a save, lol.

| #5NoctaemMar 16, 2015 12:52:55 | IIRC 2nd or 3rd edition also worked with hit dice, but in a different way. Like you could affect 5 hit dice worth of creatures or something. So if a creature has 2 hit dice it would cost you two from the 5 to make it sleep. |
