| #2shivafangAug 16, 2014 9:36:56 | Given they have both Acid Splash and Chill Tocuh (The cantrips that are similar, and probably 'learning tools' for the two spells you listed) I can't think of any reason why. |
| #3Eric888Aug 16, 2014 9:54:54 | The sorcerer does not get any spell that a wizard invented (Mordenkeinen, Tasha, or Melf). It would not make sense thematically for a person to have an innate inborn ability to cast a spell that Melf created himself. Vampiric touch is more puzzling. |

| (Reply to #5)Salesninja74I | Yeah, another example-flaming sphere. It's an elemental attack spell. Confused why it's not on the list |

| #9IgnatiusJ.ReillyAug 17, 2014 0:53:11 | The Sorcerer definetly got clipped with regard to his/her spell list compared to 3rd edition. That said, he/she does get a handful of spells that the Wizard doesn't get: Firestorm, Destruction, Dominate Beast, Water Walk, and a couple more. Nothing spectacular though, not at all really. |
| #10Mephi1234Aug 17, 2014 5:24:46 | The sorcerer may have less spells than a wizard, but those spells it does have are almost all on the wizard list as well. This doesn't help differentiate the sorcerer from the wizard, it just reinforces the idea of the sorcerer as a specialized, alternative wizard. The spells the sorcerer does get that the wizard doesn't are all on the druid spell list as well.
They may fix this in the future with some fun metamagic effects, like Dagger Magic, or something else unique that will let the sorcerer shine in vastly diffrent ways than a wizard. Some unique spells would be awesome as well - when I take Dragon magic, I want to feel like I'm doing something draconic! Clerics, druids, wizards, bards, and warlocks all have unique spells, so why can't the sorcerer have something unique? |

| #14Mephi1234Aug 17, 2014 15:44:04 | Not unless he takes the Ritual Caster feat and wants to learn wizard rituals. |
| #15IgnatiusJ.ReillyAug 18, 2014 16:58:02 | The sorcerer could get access to the spells with the Ritual tag if he takes Ritual Casting (Wizard) I suppose. Which is great because the Sorcerer list doesn't even have Identify, and his/her spells known are pathetically few. It's gotta be a bit humbling to the Sorcerer to have fewer known spells than the Bard. Not to mention the Bard gets her/his spells known faster.
Edit: I suppose I should've refreshed the page before commenting, oh well... |
