I could have sworn I remembered that 5e had changed starting ability scores so that you could only start with a max of 18 regardless of racial modifiers and had to increase it to get to 20. Then today I went to create a character, and I can't find that rule anywhere in the PHB. Am I making things up? Am I remembering something from a playtest version that got cut for the final product? Or does this rule actually exist somewhere and I just missed it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
