| #1slitherrrAug 22, 2014 16:18:27 | The rules don't seem to indicate that a PC with a swim or climb speed gets any particular bonus to Strength(Athletics) in case something comes up that would ask for it (choppy water, crappy handholds). Should those characters get advantage in those circumstances? Or should they get double proficiency on athletics rolls related to that particular movement? Does anyone on this forum have experience using one or the other (or neither) thing? |
| #2Plaguescarred1Aug 23, 2014 6:53:42 | Swim/Climb speed doesn't make it easier but faster to do so, as each foot of movement normally costs 1 extra foot while climbing or swimming, unless you have a climbing or swimming speed. Hard conditions making it diffucult to swim or climb at the point of requiring a check will require any creature to do so. |
| #3Thoughts_My_AimAug 23, 2014 8:05:23 | I could be wrong, but I think the general principle is that creatures/forms/magically enhanced PCs with swim/climb speeds don't need to make swim/climb checks except under exceptional circumstances, any more than regular land-based PCs have to make "walk checks". |
