The starter set has rules for attunement.
1. Only one character can possess it. 2. Takes a short rest to attune,
My question comes in with the rules to end attunement. It mentions 2 possibilities. 1. You are 100 yards away from it for more than 24 hours. 2. You voluntarily let it with a short rest.
My question is, when another character wants to attune to the item, does them attuning automatically drop the first attunement? or does the first character have to spend a short rest to drop the attunement, then the second character have to spend a second short rest attuning? The rules don't really make this clear. |

With that being true, it becomes clear (because no other way is presented as possible) that the first character's attunement has to be ended before the second character's can be made. |

THAT would make for a very Sad Dragon. |

If I'm correct, and that would work, then it should follow that dropping attunement is fairly quick; but, has to been done while resting and not while doing other adventuring activities. |
