On a failed save, you must attack the creature that damaged you until you drop to 0 hit points or it does, or until you can't reach the creature to make a melee attack against it."
Let's say Jim the Fighter, wielding the SoV is engaged with 5 Kobolds. And let's say Kobold One attacks and hits Jim. Jim fails his saving throw and directs his vengeance at K1. And for argument's sake, let's say K1 survives the round. During round two, Kobold Two lands a hit on Jim.
Now wait. Before we even roll the save, we should give pause. Should Jim make a save? And if we do decide that Jim needs to make a save, does this mean that Jim changes targets? does he create a kill list?
My sense of it is that while under the influence of the sword's curse (his vengeance against K1) he would not have to make another save until he has vanquished K1. After K1 is dead, and the curse has been satisfied, only then would Jim have to make another save. I think this makes sense, but again, I'm curious as to what others think. |

I think he takes the save, and if failed he now has two people that have hit him, so he must attack either on of them until they are both dead or he is.
