Greetings!

Just checking if my interpretation is correct.

Twinned Spell (and all other metamagic options from the sorcerer list) can only be used ONCE for that cast.

So, for instance, with the witch bolt spell, a sorcerer could only spend one point (as a lv1 spell) to get an extra bolt. He can not, however, expend 2 or more in order to get 2 or more bolts.

Is this right? its seens fairly obvious i know, as RAW does not state a sorcerer could do so.

Also, i assume the same is true for all metamagic? (about spending points only once)

I think it's pretty obvious that you can't apply the same metamagic ability to a single spell more than once, but if you absolutely NEED the letter of the rules to back that up, Twinned Spell says you can target a "second" creature, not "another" creature. So you would only get the effect of one Twinned Spell, even if you try to apply it more than once.

Obviously, the DM has the final say, so ask before you try anything like that.

Near the beginning of the "Metamagic" ability in the rules, before the individual descriptions, the book mentions that "unless stated otherwise" (i.e.: Empower Spell), metamagic may only be applied to a spell once.  I interpreted this to mean that only one feature may be used, and it may only be used once.
