| #1Tal-ethAug 30, 2014 12:04:34 | Does the Uncanny Dodge feature of the rogue apply to spell damage taken by the rogue? For example, if the rogue is hit by a lightning bolt from a wizard that he can see, may he opt to halve the damage via Uncanny Dodge?
The feature reads: "when an attacker that you can see hits you with an attack"
Thanks for any help!!

| #2shivafangAug 30, 2014 12:26:12 | Page 194 on the last paragraph before the Attack Rolls section; "If there's ever any question whether something you're doing counts as an attack, the rule is simple: if yo're making an attack roll, you're making an attack."
If a spell's controller (or caster) makes an attack roll to hit you, it applies to uncanny dodge. If the spell does not have an attack roll, but rather is a saving throw or automatic damage (such as magic missile) then Uncanny Dodge does not apply.
Does that clear it up for you?
EDIT: Sheesh. I thought I was replying to myself for a moment after I posted this. |
