#1 SethGrey Jan 22, 2015 12:14:03	So I was looking at the Rogue's Use Magic Device feature and I thought to myself could it allow them to use scrolls? Would Use Magic Device eliminate the restriction on scrolls and allow the rogue to make the ability check to attempt to cast the spell?   Use Magic Device: By 13th level, you have learned enough about the workings o f magic that you can improvise the use of items even when they are not intended for you. You ignore all class, race, and level requirements on the use of magic items.   Spell Scroll: If the spell is on your class's spell list, you can use an action to read the scroll and cast its spell without having to provide any of the spells components. Otherwise, the scroll is unintelligible. If the spell is on your class list but of a higher level then you can normally cast, you must make an ability check using your spell casting ability to determine whether you cast is successfully.
#2 AaronOfBarbaria Jan 22, 2015 17:00:24	Yes, Use Magic Device allows the rogue to use spell scrolls.   To break that down:   "Spell is on your class's spell list" is pretty much the definition of a class requirement.   "Spell is on your class list but of a higher level than you can normally cast" is pretty much the definition of a level requirement.   Use Magic Device allows you to ignore both of those types of requirements and use the item.
