I've build a lvl2 fighter and level 5 paladin that makes 3 attacks per round. |

With the Extra Attack feature at 5th level paladin you have 2 attacks with your action, the 3rd would come from bonus action. If using your Action Surge from 2nd level fighter, you can make two actions on your turn, so your first action would include extra attack, as would your second action, for a total of four attacks. If you are wielding a second weapon you can make a fifth attack with your bonus action.
Divine Smite is applied per hit, not per action. Therefore, everytime you hit a creature with an attack, you may expend a spell slot to apply Divine Smite. Having several attacks per action means you must expend a spell slot for every individual attack you wish to add Divine Smite to. Note that you can decide to add Divine Smite after you know whether your attack hits or not.
Hope this helps. |

Divine smite can be used on each attack. But you burn though a lot of spell slots that way. |
