| #1QwertyAzertyFeb 12, 2015 4:35:03 | I know this is only in playtest but I would like if WotC can think about it and maybe add a single line in the warforge descrition explain:
Does a warforge can become a druid? since druid will not wear metal, and warforge are made of metal. Or is their an option to have a wood/rock version of warforge able to become a druid, or does a warforge unable to become a druid? |
| #2Tempest_StormwindFeb 12, 2015 4:49:41 | Warforged, as statted, aren't wearing metal armor. Also, fluffwise, they have as much (if not more) wood and stone in their construction rather than metal. Warforged can, and always have been able to, become druids. |
| #3AaronOfBarbariaFeb 12, 2015 5:55:18 | Tempest is right.
I mean, you wouldn't say that a human is wearing flesh and bone, so why would you decide to say that a warforged is wearing metal? |

| #7QwertyAzertyFeb 13, 2015 12:13:10 | If you read my post properly I said warforged are MADE of metal. But If druid won't even wear metal, how do they deal with being made out of metal?
does their animal form made of metal too? so they cannot really hide in other animal (fleshy bear, fleshy bear, fleshy bear, metal bear, I wounder which one is the druid in animal shape?
I would like if WotC can add a line in the warforge description to avoid confusion? |

| #10CutlassFeb 14, 2015 11:45:04 | IIRC one of the warforged body feats was a darkwood body variant that could be a druid. So it would fluff wise depend on how the warforged had been ordered from House Cannith by the end user and mechanic wise depend on whether the player selected that feat for their character. Porting that over to 5E should be as simple as asking the DM if he will let you run a warforged druid. |
| #11KalaniFeb 14, 2015 12:42:59 | Specific trumps general. Is there a specific rule stating that warforged are unable to be druids?
Even if this was not the case, the specific prohibition is on druids wearing metallic armor.
Composite Plating specifically does not count as armor. It doesn't even count as natural armor.
The only reason this is even a thread is because of legacy reasons.....
If we are going to cite "legacy justification", all legacy rules hold equal weight. This means:
Sacred cows have no place in the game or at my table. FYI, 4E warforged had no class restrictions due to their composite plating, granting equal "legacy" justification to allow warforged druids. |
| #12NoctaemFeb 14, 2015 12:27:45 | Exactly, seems people are stuck in previous editions and are using fluff arguments to impose limitations on content for 5e. There's nothing to back up these limitations of course so they would squarely fall within houserule territory but frankly this stuff is just stupid imo. |

| #14KalaniFeb 14, 2015 19:09:09 | While DMs are free to houserule anything they want in their home games, the default assumption should not be "ask your DM" - it should be Warforged Druids are allowed (unless houseruled otherwise).
Even then, if my DM imposed class restrictions on one race, it is only fair that I should expect them to impose similar restrictions on all other races. Otherwise it smacks of arbitary bias, and harkens back to the Fighters Drool/Wizards Rule school of thinking.....(as such restrictions are usually justified as being for the sake of realism, and therefore typically penalize the non-spellcasting classes).
I believe in fairness and equality across the board. The Default assumption should not be "ask your DM" - it should be that |

| #16KalaniFeb 14, 2015 20:52:24 | I wasn't talking about RP stigmata, I was talking about race/class restrictions. If a hypothetical DM prohibits warforged from being druids because they are partially made of metal, - they better have similar restrictions for other races....
Such as prohibiting elves from being clerics because they are irreverant, or dwarves from being wizards because their bodies are inherrently resistant to arcane forces.... or halflings from being wizards because they are too hyperactive and unfocused to study... .etc. |
