Warlock Familiars

I have a few questions about the Warlock Pact of the Chain familiar:

1. In the Find Familiar section it shows that you are actually summoning a spirit and not the real creature.  Does this go for the warlock pact's extended creature options?

2. Would it be possible to have a Celestial Imp/Infernal Sprite?  Find Familiar says you can replace the Beast with these options, but does this apply to the extended familiar list since they are not beasts?

3. Does the Magic Resistance benefit mentioned in the monster manual apply to Pact of the Chain familiars?  For reference see page 69's box about variant imps.

4. Is it ever possible to upgrade the Sprite's equipment similarly to a PC's equipment?  Could one similarly outfit an imp or pseduodragon?

Thanks for any replys.

1. Yes.

2. No.

3. Ask your DM.

4. I see no reason why not. You would need specially-size equipment, or magic equipment that resizes to its user.

On point two, those creatures don't exist in the standard material, but you could work with your DM to create/reskin them.

And for #3, you CAN have it apply to your Warlock familiar, but by default it does not (note the use of the term "variant"). So talk with your DM if you want this option. If not, though, you can just go by the default (meaning you don't inherently make a deal to acquire an imp, unless your DM forces you)
