"You can make a warlock quickly by following these suggestions. First, Charisma should be your highest ability score, followed by Constitution. Second, choose the 'charlatan background. Third chose the eldritch blast and chill touch cantrips, along with the 1st level spells ray of sickness and witch bolt."
I now refer you to page 210 of the same book where we get to see the list of Warlock spells. Here is the list of First Level Warlock spells as its printed:
1st level: Armor of Agathys Arms of Hadar Charm Person Comprehend Languages Expeditious Retreat Hellish Rebuke Hex Illusory Script Protection from Good and Evil Unseen Servant Witch Bolt
So where in this list did the "Quick Built" warlock get access to the 1st level wizard spell of 'Ray of Sickness'?
I also heard from a YouTuber that Warlocks could gain access to other caster's cantrips, and I can find nothing in the rules that state that. Is there something I'm not getting or was this a miss print, or maybe the list got expanded and then retracted at some point?
I'm running a new game based in a world I created for my players and I am trying to both help my players understand this as well as create a few extra NPC type character sheets to be kept on hand in case we have someone stop by who wants to join in the game, I'm able to pull out nine prefabricated characters of various races and classes and let them name them, fill out the sex. hair and eye color and jump right in. However its hard to do so when even I'm not sure what the rule book is intending.
My hope is that Warlocks somehow get access to the other caster's spells based on the gifts of their chosen Pact, but I'd like some actual input from the rules developers here to give my DM house rule some added validity, Thanks in advance for the help. |
