| #1El_CondoroOct 01, 2014 17:20:45 | An effect that removes exhaustion reduces its level as specified in the effect’s description, with all exhaustion effects ending if a creature’s exhaustion level is reduced below 1. Finishing a long rest reduces a creature's exhaustion level by 1, provided that the creature has also ingested some food and drink. p.291
So a long rest reduces exhaustion by one level, but what are these other "effects" that remove it? The only one I could find was Greater Restoration (5th level). Are there others?

| #3NoctaemOct 01, 2014 18:45:31 | Yeah exhaustion really isn't a good thing. |
| #42ChlorobutanalOct 01, 2014 18:51:30 | After examining the rules a few times, exhaustion appears to be much more serious that I initially assumed.
Certainly makes a Frenzy Rage a costly choice for a Barbarian.
Some people have posited the idea of turning into a creature that is "immune: exhaustion" with a magic spell or ability to "cure" exhaustion. I think it's still up in the air, though, as to whether this would affect the PC's exhaustion level in his or her "original form" after the shapechange effect ends.
I'm inclined to think that, for example, a Barbarian that first changes shape into a construct or elemental (with immune: exhaustion) and then ends a Frenzy would be completely safe from the downside.
However, I also think that an already exhausted Barbarian that is turned into a elemental (with immune: exhaustion) would remain exhausted when the spell ends. This is an extrapolation from the rules about petrification and poisons or diseases. (A petrified character is immune: poison and disease, but existing poison and disease are not neutralized, just suspended for the duration of the petrification). |

Also, go below zero hp, in line with slow healing or lingering wounds, you get slapped with a level of exhaustion (maybe auto, maybe if you fail a death save or a con check of some kind, not sure).
Stuff like that. There's a lot that could be done with it. |

Yeah you bend the bars to your cell, but thanks to your crummy roll, you're now exhausted. And everyone probably heard it, too...
(and it could be a nasty side-effect of rolling a natural 1 for people who like doing that) |
