| #1AdmiralRangerAug 08, 2010 3:50:24 | I am planning a predominantly skill based adventure about the gnomes quest to get to the stars. The pc's will be hired to help build and protect a spaceship. I need to preempt any plans the pc's will have about getting to space so I need as many ideas as I can. The initial plan is to get to space with a combination of magic and the world's bigest hot air ballon. As I plan it the baloon will burst when they gat to space before the pc's can die of oxygen deprivation. However they will suffer from reentry. I was thinking would the gnomes be able to predict that in space their is a vacum or the threat of reentry? Also any other holes to pick in my plan (other than the fact that a hot air ballon would not get that high in the first place)? Finally any other plans? This is not a Spelljammer adventure but I thought that this would be the best place to post it as the people who watch this are likely to know a lot about space flight. |

Whenever you mention science and D+D another kitten dies(sorry MR. Mistoflees). In the Spelljammer universe space travel is all mythological. You can breed 6 huge geese, hitch them to a chariot and fly to the moon. You biggest challenge is getting past Apollo who is flying around in his Sun chariot and might shoot his bow at you. |

Some design thoughts. oakland The Manhattan project created a city to build the bombs, and employed 100,000 people. Suppose the gnomes had to build a city of 20,000 with another 20,000 in towns to build the Uber-Zeppelin? |
| #8taradusisAug 21, 2010 16:02:00 | How about a motive for the Gnomes to go to space? The Gnomes love a really good prank. Suppose they figured out how to carve the surface of the moon into a pair of giant buttocks. This means that when people allover the world look up they are getting "mooned". On the buttocks there could be a black mole. Astronomers who examine the mole thru a telescope realise that it's printing and the printing says"GNOMES RULE,OK!". |
| #9taradusisOct 02, 2010 22:11:12 | There are 15 books in the Oz series. In them all Dorothy Gale seems to be a sort of air bender. Even the name Gale is wind related. Now if Kansas had an inter-dimensional portal that Dorothy could access if she flew high enough that could be added to your universe. The gnomes fly up and instead of a god shooting them down or a gargantuan red dragon attack supposed a vortex formed and sucked them to an alternate universe or the opposite side of the world? |
