I noticed and thought I would share. since there has been so much discussion on the best way to convert helms and what not. All spelljammer needs is fluff and you got a setting. I'm thinking of modifying the shadow of the spider moon from the 3.5 rules for it. Like i said though all it needs is fluff, the rules are already there. If this has already been discussed I am sorry. All google has been turning up are conversion rules, and i don't feel that is needed. All it needs is a good story. |

Everyone has run off on weird tangents about Astral Jamming and so on, despite the basic SJ mythology being included in 4e in the Forgotten Realms Campaign Guide. No idea why. On the other hand, I might like to impose some cost for the use of a helm (I'm thinking losing a healing surge for each eight hours use - the 2e sucking out of all spells is too much) and we probably need some basic rules for travel time and so on. No biggie though. After that it's fluff updates - I've started working on updated Realmspace - and monster conversions as required. |
| #3dulsiApr 28, 2009 8:32:30 | There has been some discussion on the Piazza boards. [4E] Manual of the planes has a Spelljammer in it My thoughts on modifying the spelljamming ships Divinity feat for Ptah |
| #4colmanApr 28, 2009 9:05:50 | Thanks, I've seen that. I'm afraid that, while there are some good ideas in there: a) I just can't be bothered spending energy on the 4e haters, which seems to be what swamps most threads on the topic. b) I'm not that concerned about ship-to-ship combat at the moment. The 4e rules look pretty much like the 2e ones, so I guess it should be possible to shoehorn something into place if I need it. |
| #5jack_altradesApr 28, 2009 23:10:26 | I also noticed that planescape and ravenloft seem to be natural pieces to the "base" setting. I think that is cool since the settings were built to be attatched to any of the other settings as well. Kind of like the Highway between cities. |
| #6colmanApr 29, 2009 12:35:16 | Well, I think the purists would claim that allusions to Planescape and Ravenloft in Core miss the whole point of both settings ... |
| #7dr_rocktopusMay 02, 2009 2:13:10 | Actually, I'm just quietly glad sigil is still there, even if the great ring isn't...... |
| #8jack_altradesMay 02, 2009 16:51:44 | Well the Great Wheel isn't the cosmology any more... and Sigil get's a mention on page 160 of the DMG. The Manual of the Planes gives Sigil 3 and a half pages starting on page 25. It's still ring shaped according to the picture on page 27. I don't know what you mean by the Great ring isn't there any more, unless you meant wheel. Sigil didn't seem to get the same work over that Ravenloft did. Or SpellJammer for that matter, but SpellJammer was a little on the silly side for me. |
