| #1DragonhelmJun 24, 2004 10:39:10 | With the new Eberron setting, we have a new world that travelers through the void may wish to venture to. I know it’s still new, but has anyone thought about how Spelljammer could work with Eberron? Does Eberron’s cosmology allow for it? The cool part is that Eberron has skyships, so I don’t think this would be too far off base. |
| #2nightdruidJun 25, 2004 13:13:06 | Not really, but with 12 moons and an impressive set of rings, the world should be ripe for SJ-style fun. Not sure if any of my Moons of the Month would fit, but could be set there in a pinch if a DM wishes to ![]() |
| #3zombiegleemaxJun 25, 2004 23:33:21 | Interestingly enough that same thought also crossed my mind. I sense those creative gears turning now in the SJ inclined now. An SJ link will have to reflect the Eberron Setting in a similar way that it did for Dragonlance and Forgotten Realms. I guess I could take a small stab at it in my part time. I can think of few SJ races that may fit in an Eberron/Spelljammer campaign. ;) |
| #4DragonhelmJun 30, 2004 21:26:27 | What would the sphere be called? Eberronspace? I'm not sure that flows. |

Considering the importance that dragons have on Eberron. Oh what better way for the dragons to monitor the stars for the Prophecy then with a draconic city in orbit of Eberron? The draconic word for sun? No idea ![]() |
| #6nightdruidJul 02, 2004 20:14:47 | Closest I can come up with is "andusk", from Dragon issue #260. Of course, that's several years old and generic, rather than specific for Eberron. Other than that... |
| #7green_giant_02Jul 06, 2004 18:01:02 | I think Siberyspace sounds better for the dragon above. You'll have to be careful for the time when Syrania is coterminous with Eberron or you'll end up spelljamming into the plane by flying upward into the atmosphere. |
| #8zombiegleemaxJul 14, 2004 22:41:52 | Spelljammer (Eberron: Siberyspace) A sphere located well beyond the Known Spheres. Races that Work (If given an Eberron twist): The standard races (as usual) Clockwork Horrors Moon Dragons Sun Dragons Radiant Dragons Dohwar Drow Dreamslayers (could be servents of the Inspired) Reigar Grell, Colonial Monitors Xixchil Beholders Dracons Illithoids Giff Remnant of the Vodoni (See Under the Dark Fist. Though I'm likely the only person here who remembers them) May want to avoid having the following Neogi Arcane The Imperial Elven Armada (the armada would end up waging holy war on the elves of Eberron over the whole undead thing) Spelljamming should be used as a secret or forgotten tech/magic in Eberron. Known to dragons, the oldest elves, demons and long fallen giant civilization. Maybe the wreak of a spelljammer inspired the creation of the first airship, but it's helm was destroyed and no one could guess what powered it, henced why the used elementals. If not handled right one could cause unbalance to the various powers and nationalities on that world. |

But having read various comments in the forums it strikes me that. . . Alternatively one could place the Eberron home sphere as existing at the edge of established flow lanes, and thus far enough out of the way that the key events of Spelljammer history had little impact upon the sphere. Or, perhaps, that same established history can be used as a way to explain certain of the peculiarities of the world. After all innovations in science and technology leading to new inventions and new ways of doing things are often directly the result of conflicts. Spelljammer history had it's big inhuman war so, perhaps, this might have spilled over into the Eberron sphere indirectly. Say the inhabitants of Eberron did, at some point in the past, have Spelljammers. Perhaps they even defeated , and expelled from their sphere, alien fleets. But then events on the homeworld took precedence. Perhaps over the centuries this knowledge has, indeed, been lost or relegated to distant half remembered tales of folklore and myth known to but a few sages. If so this would mean that a Spelljammer campaign might involve the discovery of forgotten outposts and abandoned Spelljammer stations. Or perhaps they weren’t abandoned, merely left to their own devices? Could their be people, even now, flitting about the Sphere in ancient Spelljammer hulls? Might their be a agng Lionheart like station in orbit around one of the distant moons? Introduced properly this could be a mystery on par with the so-called "Face on Mars". Is it there? Does it really exist? If so, who built, and why? Thoughts? |
| #10nightdruidJul 15, 2004 12:18:00 | I've learned a little more about this setting, and have a couple of ideas: a) Spelljamming is largely controlled by some dragonmark house; either an existing one (I know next to nothing about them) or a new one. b) A particularly interesting thread at ENWorld about the underpopulation of the main continent could be an idea to run with: During the Last War, many "civilians" were evacuated to the moons, creating thriving SJ civilizations there. Now that the war is over, some might start heading home, but others might stick around. c) running with the refugee idea, the sudden influx of people to the moons attracted the SJ races (dracons, giff, dohwar, etc). The Monitors might have been brought in to keep order; the Giff might be general legbreakers and mercenaries seeking work; the dohwar obviously want to hawk their junk to unsuspecting people, etc. Just some ideas to run with ![]() |

Right now people have to wait until the shards fall to Eberron, but if Spelljamming was possible wouldn't they go right up and mine it into nonexistance? |
| #12XorialFeb 18, 2005 17:33:05 | I used Eberron in a short adventure. I placed it really off the normal flow path. If you have access to the adventure Under the Dark Fist you can use the rules fro flying thru the asteroid field in that adveture for attempting to navigate the ring of dragonshards. I decided that Spelljammers are NOT very welcomed by the dragons. They feel that they have the potential to disrupt the Prophecy. Therfore, as soon as they start to make the slightest impact on Eberron, there is the potential for dragons to become involved. And I mean involved in a very BAD way. Dragons worried about their precious Prophecy? They will be very prejudicial against any spelljammer. |

Right now people have to wait until the shards fall to Eberron, but if Spelljamming was possible wouldn't they go right up and mine it into nonexistance? Turn it into a hazard. Entering the Ring of Siberys is incredibly dangerous because of all the floating shards and only the insanely foolish would even try it, and they'll most likely die in the process. And if they do happen to survive, there's not going to be much left of their ship afterwards. Personally, I'm not so sure I'd want to involve Eberron directly with Spelljammer, but it certainly makes a great idea mine. There's so much cool stuff that is easily swipable and fits right in with SJ. |
