Hi guys.

I've finally been able to read through the first 5 books of the Cloackmaster cycle and I'm going to finish the last very soon, but there are a couple of things that really left me puzzled, so I'm asking you if you can enlighten me on the matter.

In book 2 and 3 (Into the Void and The Maelstrom's Eye), we are presented with a couple of odd situations, from the rules' pov:
- Ships are spotted while in spelljamming speed.
- Combat is engaged while in spelljamming speed.

Now, how is this possible, if I may ask? Maybe I don't recall correctly the rules, but it seemed to me that combat was possible only at tactic speed, and same went with reconnaissance. After all, it's really HARD to spot or target something that travels that fast and it's at least over 22 hexes (1100 yards - the range where tactical speed supercedes spelljamming) away from you...

What do you think?

It is possible because they were very badly written, and paid only token homage to the actual rules and setting.

Meh, no worse than most of the sci fi out there, to be honest. I think most people think that flying in space is kinda like flying in an airplane, but with no ground. They fail to realize both that gravity is a huge stablizing effect in flight, and the speeds in space are far, far greater than in the air.
