| #1ice_eyesMar 27, 2009 9:17:17 | Ok, this is the order I wanted to do things. First, we need to decide who is going to do the Judging. I personally am thinking that everyone should vote. Rule 1, no voting for your own submission, Rule 2, nothing vulgar or explicit. (I know that that is part of the forum rules, but no one wants to get in all of us in trouble do they?) Rule 3. When you vote, just say “I vote for “...” .” This will make gathering the votes much easier. |
| #2ice_eyesMar 27, 2009 9:17:51 | So, how should we go about setting up the submissions and voting. I am thinking that we start with everyone posting a submission. We should have a set-date for the submissions, like one week from when we start. After that, I say another week to get all the votes in. I am also thinking that everyone should have two votes. Vote 1 = my favorite, Vote 2 = my second choice. That way we know which ones are the best liked. I mean, if five people vote for submission A. but no one else has it as a second, and four people vote for Submission B, and three other people have it as a second choice, submission B is obviously the better choice. Ideas? |
| #3gideon_gideonsonMar 27, 2009 9:19:51 | Seem pretty logical to me. I wholeheartedly endorse this idea. :D That said, think you could alter the title with the (General OOC) -- All Welcome! part? I'd like to get this naming conventions off the ground, and letting one (even a short lived thread) slip through isn't the best thing. Not a really big deal though. :D |
| #4LivingShadowMar 27, 2009 9:20:46 | Well, I'll start by posting my original. I may replace it if I can make a better one before we start voting. |
| #5ice_eyesMar 27, 2009 9:21:37 | Oops, sorry Gid, yea, just a sec |
| #6ice_eyesMar 27, 2009 9:36:29 | Ok, the submissions start now. Shadow, could you edit your last post and put your logo under this post please? There is one week to complete a submission and post it. So, on 4/3/09, no more submission will be accepted for voting. Before the final date you can make any changes you want to your submission, and feel free to discuss the pieces submitted. Once the date is reached however, the only changes you can make are to remove your submission from the voting. Multiple submissions are ok. If you have more than one, GREAT!!! Just be sure to name your submission so we can vote on them without confusion. After the voting starts. Each person who wishes to vote will get two votes. Vote 1. This is the peice you like the best, the one you want to win, and you cannot vote for your own. Vote 2. This is the one that you would not mind if your first choice is not selected. Agian, no voting for your own submission. please set it up. (logo=submission name, name=the person submitting it) Vote 1. Logo, by name Vote 2. Logo, by name This will make it easier for everyone involved. I will re-post the voting bit at the end of all the submissions if we have enough posts to bring up a new page. Have fun people! ^_^ |
| #7LivingShadowMar 27, 2009 11:41:04 | ![]() Done. |
| #8sorcen_anenooataMar 28, 2009 17:15:28 | Join us over at the Map of the Planes, the hottest RPing spot this side of the Styx.![]() |
| #9LivingShadowMar 28, 2009 21:19:41 | I assume we can replace our entries before the voting starts. Am I right? |
| #10sorcen_anenooataMar 28, 2009 21:46:35 | I assume so. I was unhappy with my first logo because it was too blurry, I played around with resizing it but couldnt get it just right so I settled for that one instead. I actually think that one fits the planar theme a bit better anyway though. To answer your question though, its your entry so I assume its up to you if you want to tweak it (or completely change it) before the deadline. You can always do multiple entries though. |
| #11ice_eyesMar 28, 2009 22:09:27 | Sorcen is right. You can make any adjustments you want to your entry before the deadline, or, if you would rather, you can submit a new one. Just be sure to name them. Entry 1, Entry 2, is fine, or if you want to give them a more elaborite name like, Keys to the Imagination, that's fine too. Just so long as the voters will be able to clearly state which one they are voting for. |
| #12ice_eyesMar 29, 2009 16:53:39 | OK, so here's my first one. World of Imagination was what I named the background when I made it. So let's just name it that. I know it is big. No matter what I do, I cannot get it smaller. I made it 2" by 1" before I cropped it, and that is inches, not feet. Photobucket made it this large in the URL. I am not very good with computer stuff though, someone with more skills in how to put things up online would probably be able to re-size it without issue. If they want, I can even send them the origonal copy so they can do it in whatever way they need to. World of Imagination ![]() Try this one Gid, I think it should work. I looked at it with it about the size of half a credit-card and it still looked good to me. Lets hope the text shrinks ok on this one. Oh, and as for the website. I have had bad luck with downloads lately, so I think I'll leave it up to you if you don't mind. |
| #13sorcen_anenooataMar 29, 2009 17:10:53 | First of all, wow, that blows my submission out of the prverbial water. And secondly, photobucket generally sucks at sizing pics. I had trouble with the size on my first idea. |
| #14ice_eyesMar 29, 2009 18:46:14 | I am a certified Graphic Designer. |
| #15sorcen_anenooataMar 29, 2009 18:51:33 | Ah, that explains it. I just used Cooltext.com and I suspect Shadow did the same. |
| #16gideon_gideonsonMar 29, 2009 19:06:20 | ...Gah. Beautiful, Ice. BEAUTIFUL. If you send me the original file, I can resize it for you pretty easily. Inkscape works wonders for that sort of thing (and is a freeware program...look it up! Just upload the file and export in the size and format you want). One concern based on some experimenting I did with that image...given how much of the image isn't text, if I shrink it to a manageable size, the text becomes illegible. |
| #17ice_eyesMar 29, 2009 21:05:34 | OK, I changed the photo, have at it agian if you don't mind Gid. Also, if you think it would make it easier, I can crop the top and the bottom a little to make it more elongated and less of a square. |
| #18ice_eyesMar 29, 2009 21:55:47 | Ok, logo number two. Ancient Ememies ![]() |
| #19LivingShadowMar 30, 2009 6:42:56 | Actually, I used Gimp. Here's Version 2: ![]() |
| #20ice_eyesMar 30, 2009 7:04:23 | Simple, yet to the point. I like it Shadow. Nothing ever said that something Flashy is always the right thing. I tried learning to use gimp, but I am too used to my complicated programs. I trashed it off my computer and went and bought my expensive illustrator and photo-editing programs |
| #21hinobanMar 30, 2009 9:38:26 | Hm, I think Ice, if you could somehow combine elements of both of your entries to show the soft fantastical, romantic side, as well as the intense evil, and action side it would be perfect. |
| #22ice_eyesMar 30, 2009 11:50:51 | I will see what I can do, but those two will be hard to mix. I lost most of my work when my laptop crashed, and I can't find my backup disks, so I don't think i will be able to get it done before the deadline, but I'll see what I can come up with. |
| #23LivingShadowMar 30, 2009 17:48:35 | Gimp isn't the best but it's better than paint. |
| #24hinobanMar 31, 2009 6:42:24 | I mean, currently either one would work almost perfectly. That's a drag! your computer crashing I mean. |
| #25ice_eyesMar 31, 2009 14:09:06 | Ok, well, here you go. I made a slightly altered mix, taking a little from both pictures and setting it on a nuetral backgroung. The Edge. ![]() |
| #26AquaMar 31, 2009 14:20:22 | I quite enjoy that. If only it was a moon hahaha. Looks awesome Ice. :D |
| #42AquaApr 06, 2009 21:12:47 | LivingShadow's Version 1 is my choice. My second is the edge. |
