The shimmering veil falls slowly down as the portal opens, revealing a pristinely beautiful forest. Bright green foliage springs forth from every bough, and the air seems saturated with eldritch potential. The season is late spring, the air perfect...so perfect as to give the forest a calm, otherworldly quality.

A gentle breeze blows through the leaves, whipping up a gentle melody from flute-like branches. The sun hangs low in the horizon, painting the sky in a myriad of brilliant shades...a sunset more glorious than any found in a mortal realm. For this is no mere mortal realm. This is the Nexus, the central hub of all worlds and all realities, and Kaylee Laythe is not about to let it look like anything but the best.

*****

At the center of the Nexus lies an unearthly building, half stationary, half moving, parts floating despite the pull of gravity, the whole structure somehow defying the laws of physics which should surely bring it crashing down. It is a truly impressive sight, albeit a confusing one.

A young woman stands outside, apparently oblivious to the chaotic building behind her. And, in truth, it is hard to focus on the building with her standing there, as her presence draws the eyes more than even the building does. Statuesque and beautiful, her long black hair flowing over her shoulders, her deep emerald eyes watching the horizon, she seems like something out of legend. There is only one thing keeping her from the image of a goddess: her attire--black denim isn't exactly the garb of the divine, no matter
how stunning it looks on someone.

She looks like she has been standing there for some time, and, after several minutes, she turns around and walks back toward the building, only to spin about again as a hand gently rests itself on her shoulder...a hand with a golden disc emblazoned on the back.

"Hey, Kaylee."

The man standing behind her is tall, thin, and fairly muscular, his golden blonde hair radiant in the dying sunlight. He is stunningly handsome, his sharp features framed in sunlight as he smiles down at the girl before him. Charles Henry Anstron, better known as Coin, has arrived in the Nexus.

If she was a statue before, she's alive, gloriously alive now, the radiance of her smile brightening the existence around her. Had there been anyone but Coin and she in the entirety of her realm, they would have been stricken with jealousy as this vision of beauty hugged the blonde man tight.

"Welcome back Charlie," she whispers, as though not quite trusting herself to speak, "Christ, I always get so emotional when you get back..."

The moment lasts for a long time, her slender body against his. The silence is beautiful in its own way, like everything else in the realm Kaylee calls her own.

"Where've ya been this time?" she finally says, disengaging partially from the embrace to look Charlie, her knight in shining armor, right in the eyes with her emerald orbs.

"A little bit of everywhere. Dropped by Sigil to say hello to a few friends, an' then...well, funny story here...I kinda got convinced to do a lecture on wild magic an' all that. Did pretty damn well to...at least 'til everything went blue an' the podium ran away."

He chuckles to himself.

"Apparently I'm not lecturing ever again."

"After that Tammi, Reg, Jacki and I took a little visit back to earth, and I dropped by the folks for a few days afterwards, just to say hi. I would have told you, only my phone was one of the casualties of my lecture, an' I wasn't focused enough to be sure I'd land in the Nexus an' not somewhere nasty. Regardless, I got a new one, so next time I'll send word."

Here he pauses, looking rather depressed.

"That accounts for the first two weeks. The three months though...that wasn't anything I could help. You remember that demon Balthazarr? Well, he never really liked me after our little talk with him. Long story short, his minions found me at my parents, an' I don't think Dad made it out of the house. I couldn't cast anything for fear of destroyin' my parent's neighborhood, so I was captured, an' spent the better part of those three months in Hell. Not a pleasant time, let me tell you. Took me over eight weeks to break free."

Coin shudders, his face drawn up in a painful grimace.

"Luckily I managed to erase the scars...you really didn't want to see that. Demons get...creative...with their tortures. The worst one, though...they had you there Kaylee...strung up next to me and they...they...they......"

He stops, unable to continue.

"I had to be sure it wasn't really you. I don't know what I would have done had it been. In retrospect, that charade was their mistake, since there wasn't a prison in the multiverse that coulda held me back then. If Balthazarr survived, and I'm not sure he coulda, he's probably p*ssed as all hell, but the important thing is that I'm back. It takes more than a demon with anger issues to keep me down for long."

Kaylee can't speak, the shock is so great, but she closes her eyes and holds herself closer to Coin, letting the silence speak for her.

After a moment both fleeting and eternal, her quiet voice breaks the air.

"Balthazarr is dead. His realm has changed hands. You won't need to worry, Charlie. I'm so sorry..."

Coin smiles again, his laugh-it-off personality coming to the front once more.

"Don't worry about it. I'm back now, and I hope to stay so for a while."

"So...anything interesting happen on your end since I was gone?"

"Well, Lilai is progressing fantastically. She's got a sharp mind. The girl's out with some friends right now - said something about Undermountain. Told her if she dies again, I can't call in Altello, she said it'd be fine. Aside from that, your daughter took it upon herself to run away from home. I can't figure out where she went for the life of me."

Kaylee sighs, "Want to go inside and take a seat? My legs are killin' me."

"Wait. Backtrack to the part about the running away, will you?"

"She ran away. Left me a note saying she was sick of being cooped up and my 'overbearing b*tchy nazi attitude' and left. She still hasn't bothered to control her magic either - she's like you, but less powerful and more dangerous to everyone around her. I also can't scry her."

Kaylee sighs.

"Too clever for her own good. When you start getting smarter than Ty and me, there's issues waiting to happen. C'mon inside, it'll be dark soon. I got sick of eternal twilight."

Coin pushes open the door and steps inside, holding it open for Kaylee to enter.

"You know, I bet if I were as smart as you and Tyler I probably would have been offended by that comment. Lucky for me you're dumb enough like stupid guys, isn't it?"

He grins and walks into the next room, where he practically throws himself onto the nearest couch. Coin sinks slowly back into the cushions, sighing deeply.

"Wow. Three months in hell really makes you appreciate things like this."

With that, he sits up, his expression more serious.

"So...she's gone, you can't find her, and she's not even bothering to TRY controlling her power. That's a MAJOR problem. She may not be me, but uncontrolled she's still a danger to herself and everything around her. And she seems to be trying to pick a fight with you for some reason. I miss anything?"

Dec 23, 2007 23:09:24
"She's not even actively neglecting it, she's making the problem worse by trying to purge it. I know you haven't been around a lot, but, well....girls get curious. And after hearing a lot of things, she's decided that magic is something she never wants to associate with. Ever. And when I didn't agree with her, she thought I was being arrogant. Gotta hand it to her, though, she made superb arguments."

Kaylee sighs, letting a small can of Coke appear in her hand to drink from. She takes a sip and pops one up for Coin.

"Raising children is haaaaaaard...."

"Damn straight. And somehow I suspect that Vilaria is worse than most. She's got quite a temper when she's roused."

Coin steeples his fingertips and looks thoughtful.

"Half of me wants her to just stay out there for some time...you know, hope she learns some self-control and stuff. But...I just don't feel comfortable with that. Something could happen to her, and after everything I've been through lately I don't think I could deal with that. I think I'm gonna have to try to find her, unless you can think of something better to do."

"I think it's best to leave her be for awhile, Charlie. She's angry and confused right now, and needs some time to herself. She's been cooped up in here for so long, and only got to see you rarely, so she's not really happy with either of us. She needs some time to figure things out on her own."

Kaylee takes Coin's hand, staying calm for him.

"The thing I was trying to say before - the bigger and more complex any system gets, the less stable it is. Watch."

In the air, a series of lines form a grid that slowly begins to grow. Soon, a spiral pattern is starting to develop, and dredging his memories, Coin can call up a term - 'Fractal Curve'.

"When you start small, the system is fine. It can take care of itself. But as it gets bigger, parts get further apart. Some are left incomplete. Others simply don't connect. The complexity of the system leaves gaps, which eventually mean that it can't be saved. So when you take someone like Tyler, or Vilaria, or I, we're unstable. Our systems are already large and we add complexity by exploring our own limits, by challenging ourselves. Without something to fill in the gaps in the system, we fall apart."

The curve disintegrates, falling to the floor as gray, lifeless metal lines.

"Vilaria is incredibly intelligent. Things come to her so easily it disturbs even me. She needs time to find stability."

"Hmmm...avoiding responsibility. A very positive side effect...but not the one I had in mind."

"Now, I distinctly remember this kind of thing getting us right where we are now," Kaylee begins teasingly, but she kisses Charlie on the lips, reveling in the surging tingle that would destroy any other woman in any other place, "But what's life without some risks?"

Kaylee Laythe

"God damn it," she swears, "Elminster again..."

She steps away from Coin, flipping open a cell phone. There's a couple minutes of heated talking before she snaps it shut, irritation etched onto her face.

"God damn Toril three times over. Always needs its ass saved, and always when I'm in the middle of something."

There's no bang, no loud flash - just weight on either side of the couch, with Kaylee on his right, looking exhausted, and Lilai on the other, holding a jewled sword and eyeing it suspiciously. The mistress of the Nexus pants.

Coin flicks his hand away just in time, and the line of fire that would have turned Kaylee's head to so much ash instead sends the gift basket to an early grave.

"KAYLEE! Don't do that to me, babe! Seeing people pop out of nowhere is NOT natural! At least make a sound or something, for Christ's sake."

He shakes himself, then continues, his voice decidedly more level.

"I suppose so...I just fail to see the point. It wasn't exactly polite or necessary of us to try and take over the goblin's cavern, and I still don't understand why, if there WAS a problem, the town militia couldn't have solved it."

"Also, I'm at a loss as to what a sword like this was doing in such a run-down warren..."

"Well Lilai, it really depends on motivation. People kill for money - that's a fact. Some kill from fear and judge hastily. If you wanna see the world and see the sight, you'll need to kill too, and that means figuring out what you're killing for."

She stretches, popping her shoulder with a sigh of relief.

So, how has Lilai grown up, if at all?

gideon_gideonson

Dec 25, 2007 9:15:08
OOC
Well, Lilai was around 13, and four years have passed (using Tyler and Inaya's timeline, which I happen to like), so I'd put her around 17...about the same age as Vilaria. I've also randomly discovered that she's become quite concerned with preserving life...I don't know why, but there you have it.

Jessica_Morgan

Dec 25, 2007 9:20:28
"It's not always avoidable. Some things have to die - some people need to be killed to save more lives. It's about removing complexity from the system. By removing subtracting variables, you make the rest of the system more stable in the long-term. It sounds cold, but think of it this way - kill a murderer, and he cannot end more lives. Slay a demon and it can cause no more suffering."

She rubs her temples, "Charlie, I'm not up to this right now. Tyler's better at this kind of thing, but he's been vanished for a good four years, lying low enough that the muckdwellers can't even find him."

She leans against Coin, small and warm, her voice tired, "I need a nap..."

Dec 25, 2007 21:01:57
Kaylee curses dully under her breath in several tongues, calling up more screens and flicking her hands across them all. It takes a good minute for her to register Coin's question.

"There's another world forming, I've got to compensate before it comes into the Megaverse. It's big - probably another Microverse unto itself, or even a Convergence."

Six more screens pop up that she deals with, more flicking into being. Kaylee breathes a blasphemous word in the Dark Speech and keeps working.

In the room where Lilai sits on the couch, the portal opens, expelling Inaya, Devin, and soon after, Vilaria.

It is a testament to the strangeness of life in the Nexus that Coin is completely nonplussed by this revelation.

"Right. Wake me if I can help in any way."

*****

Lilai jumps up excitedly as her sister materializes in the living room, but the smile fades from her lips as Vilaria follows after.

"Inaya! How have you...oh. Hello, Vilaria."

"Hi! Coin or Kaylee around? I've got a little problem for them to look into..."

Inaya gestures at the unconscious Devin.

"Last I saw them Kaylee was going to sleep...but they should probably be up be now, or, if they're not, they've slept FAR to long. Down that hall, second door on the left."

Inaya strides off down the hall, calling for the owner of the Nexus as she goes. In her wake the room falls silent as the two remaining girls are left face-to-face.

"Girl at Sorcen's found a young man with a...um...serious problem of a fiendish nature. Ty thinks he's probably a danger to someone, possibly himself. He figured here would be the safest place for the time being, and I wondered if you'd care to take a look. Either way's fine...Ty should be along shortly."

"Anyway, I'm gonna have to go back to him now...Lilai seemed to be trying to pick a fight with the girl who found him, and I don't want anyone causing trouble around this guy...he seemed rather on edge, and if he regains consciousness in the middle of a fight its not going to be good."

Tyler arrives, taking a breath to say something - right as Kaylee interrupts him.

"TYLER, CHARLIE WILL LOOK AT THE KID, GET IN HERE! I NEED SOMEONE ELSE WHO CAN DO THEORETICAL MATH IN MORE THAN EIGHTY LEVELS OF EXISTENCE!"

The Daemon Magus hustles to Kaylee's room, pecking Inaya on the cheek as he passes.

At Kaylee's shout, Coin tumbles reluctantly out of bed and follows Inaya into the living room...where he promptly stops, looking straight at Vilaria.

"You came back!"

He rushes forward and throws his arms around his daughter.

"Thank the Gods...three months in Hell without you or Kaylee, and now I've got the family together again."

He's obviously quite ecstatic, and must have lost some focus, since the room rapidly undergoes a series of strange decor changes, finally settling on a style that wouldn't seem out of place in a medieval cottage.

"Great...more mental stuff. She knows I'm no good at this..."

Coin waves a hand and summons, in order, a frozen trout, a very shocked poodle, a plaster model of General Eisenhower, and, finally, a phone. He shoves the rest into a nearby storage closet and picks up the phone, quickly dialing a number.

"Thank you. Now stand back."

The physic closes his eyes and lays a thin hand upon Devin's forehead.

*****

Dorian Rike steps into the ether of the dreamscape. He stands alone upon a winding pathway of silver light, stretching into swirling nothingness for as far as the eye can see.

He raises a finger, as if testing for a wind, and then steps forward, walking for what could be seconds, and could be years. Finally, after a brief eternity, he stops before a shimmering wall. This is the mind he seeks. He reaches out to touch the barrier, to pass through into Devin Myer's consciousness...

*****

Dorian's body ripples with force as something unseen lashes out at him. The physic collapses on top of his patient, his figure wracked with what must be unbearable pain.

*****

Dorian hangs in space, clinging onto the silvery bridge by the tips of his fingers. The surge was much stronger than he anticipated, and only his fast reactions saved him from being thrown into the raw dreamstuff. Even this, though, was not enough to escape completely: his skin is burned and blackened, his face scarred, his eyes naught but ash.

Yet not for nothing is Dorian Edward Rike one of the most accomplished neuromancers ever to traverse the dreamscape. Slowly yet surely the pathway reaches out silver strands to entwine him and lift him to safety, and he steps confidently toward the barrier once more, his dream-form even now repairing the damage.

This time Dorian takes no chances. His eyes fill with silver mist and the dreamscape around him flows into his open mouth as he reaches out a hand to gently stroke the shining barricade. Once more there is a tremendous recoil, but Dorian stands fast, waves of raw force cascading over him to disperse harmlessly into nothingness. The gateway open, Dorian steps into it...

...and emerges on a tropical beach. Yet what he seek lies deeper, and the physic slowly fades away, his dream-form turning to so much smoke and mist as he seeks the very heart of Devin's mind.

*****

A column of flame burns brightly in the ether before Dorian, and he prowls around it, his hands casting strands of dreamstuff in carefully calculated patterns. There is no effect, until, finally, the flames begin to withdraw, leaving a humanoid figure composed of flashing images and fragments of thought. A vast heat comes from the being, and the shadows of a fire within are just visible on the surface.

Dorian sighs deeply, and his consciousness fades back to the world.

*****

Dorian opens his eyes and stands slowly, his hand clapped to his head to stave off the tremendous headache that resulted from his battle with the doorway. He smiles weakly and turns to Coin and Vilaria.

"I did what I could. There's no demon there but himself...it's simply another aspect of himself, and I can't do anything about that. I think, however, that I managed to put him in control. He should at least be able to recall things correctly now."

"Oh...and Tyler? Don't try to hold it back ever again. That almost killed him, and I suspect that, given time and exposure, it would succeed. Just treat him with caution...the boy is a danger to everyone around him if that side of his personality gets loose."

Vilaria is white as a sheet and shaking, and she nods slowly as she sinks to the floor. Still, presence of mind has to be there somewhere, because she's holding Devin's hand protectively, scared or not.

"Jesus Christ Kaylee, what the hell?"

Tyler has taken over twelve, thirteen screens, but between the two magi there are more forming.

"The system is going to collapse unless we vent somewhere! We've got to drop a few worlds!"

Devin slowly opens his eyes and rises, somewhat shakily. Halfway up the world spins before him, and he falls again, but the feeling soon passes, and once more he struggles upright, this time remaining so.

After a few seconds he looks down at his hand curiously, and sees Vilaria.

"Um...hi? What the hell am I doing here?"

"Not now, Charlie. They're not going to vanish, just go through a major apocalypse or two while their systems adjust. I can't hook you in - you're too disruptive. I'm sorry, but some things need to be cut off until we can fix this or everything dies."

"Kaylee, that's the whole POINT. Throw me into something like that, and all that instability will be drawn away. I'm a magnet for chaos, and I can probably keep it balanced at least long enough for you to find a place to dump the excess!"

"It's not a matter of complexity, Charlie, the system is about to expand somehow and I have no clue -"

Kaylee is cut off by a huge screen appearing between her and Tyler, blaring violet letters.

Collission Detected

"God almighty..." Kaylee breathes, "It's another Megaverse...."

"You're at my place, handsome. My godfather thought it safest for everyone that you be brought here. This is Inaya," she says as she gestures to the deadly dancer, "My godmother. The other girl is Lilai, my...well, I'd call her sister."

"What do you mean safest? Something bad happen back in Baator?"

As Devin looks around in mild confusion, Dorian Rike leans against the wall, smiling to himself. After all, there was no need to let the boy remember his little episode...

Another girl might have been confused. Grow up with Kaylee as your mother, and very little will confuse you, however. Valaria smiles.

"Somone started something with you and you took a nasty blow to the head after you took him out, so we took you here to cool off. You might not recall it for awhile."

Kaylee shoves Tyler out of the way, knocking the Daemon Magus into Coin while she hits screen after screen, blanking out some and moving others.

"Charlie! Tell Lord Sorcen that I'm sorry, but Baator is going to take the brunt of the biggest impact in Megaversal history! I'm dropping worlds from the system so we can take the impact - we're about to do something I've only read about in the owner's manual. Merge with a completely seperate concept of existence."

She flicks a few screens.

"Reality should stabalize to our version of normalcy once it's over, but until then, all bets are about to be off. HURRY!"

Coin dumps Tyler unceremoniously to the ground and then vanishes, leaving a wonderfully crafted croquet set and a plate of strangely fuzzy biscuits in his wake.

Seconds later he reappears, scattering the croquet set and biscuits. The chaos magus clutches his throat as if in intense pain and stumbles out of the room, mumbling hoarsely about 'needing ice.'

The Technomagus is shouting orders in countless languages now, her commands vibrating across the Megaverse, compelling even the most powerful beings to serve the will of the Mistress of the Nexus. The air shimmers and tightens, as if bracing for impact.

"Ty, I need you in Sorcen's! Brace for impact and one helluva fight! Vilaria, go with him and don't give me lip about it!"

For once, Vilaria snaps to.

"Yes ma'am! Devin, I'll be back, I know what I gotta do. Now I'm glad I have so many toys."

Vilaria and Tyler slip through the portal.

"Inaya, I need you to go to Eberron and talk fast, fast, fast, because I can't contact the damn place correctly and it will be leveled to the ground unless the Magi there work together. I'll send you to your father, start there!"

A portal opens near Inaya as Kaylee resumes screaming directions across existence.

Inaya nods and steps through the portal. Before the portal even has time to close she is already lost to sight.

A few seconds later Coin walks back into the room, holding an icepack to his sore throat.

"Get Devin to Earth. He needs to strengthen the mesh there - meaning he needs Earth to be really, well, Earth-Y. Everyone needs to do the things they do...just a lot more intensely. After that, get your ass to Limbo and intensify it. I'm calling the Four. This is gonna hurt."

Grimly, Kaylee flicks screens this way and that, again shouting orders across the cosmos.

This is gonna hurt.

Through the portal from Sorcen's Arena, a man emerges.
In casual clothing from his time, and with a relaxed and calm facial expression, he seems oblivious to the imminent cataclysm.
The only sign that he may be expecting that something is about to happen is the cylindrical object in his hand that he holds as if it was the handle of a weapon of some sort, although his grip of that one is relaxed as well.
"Hey, I heard something was gonna crash here soon, and bein' a bit bored, I thought I'd go check it out."

As if from a great distance, a soft, rythmic drumbeat can be heard drifting on the winds of the Nexus. Far off, figures are materializing - a young man, with ash blond hair, and wild, golden eyes walks serenely into the wood of the Nexus.

Ender Chant, though, has been traveling - he isn't wearing his usual suit, rather, a deep blue robe, tied with a sash. Atop his head sits a black silk turban - indeed, if it wasn't for the magician's fair skin, he would look for all the world like he was a Persian prince - the trail of djinns, musicians and tigers add to the effect.

"Kaylee Laythe."

It is not a request, but a summons.

There is a sound of wings and a distant animal roar followed by a bellow of pain. “Wait, what’s happening?" The distant voice is a woman’s voice, but very deep. “Stop, what’s going on? Mother! Help me!” With a soft thump a large winged shape falls onto the floor and lets out a screaming animal roar of absolute pain. The creature covers her eyes and curls into a ball on the floor, wrapping huge bat like wings and a long tail around herself, whimpering in fear and pain. A sharp, snipped word issues from within the folded wings and a ball of blackness falls around the creature. The whimpering sounds like a mix of human and animal, and completely pathetic.

"Oh Christ, quit your whining."

The Nexus plunges into absolute darkness for a moment or two, gradually lightening to a level the creature can tolerate. The pain leaves its eyes, and it experiences a moment of tingling as all other injuries - no matter how old - repair themselves.

"Get on up and tell me what's wrong, little lady."

“Where am I?” Mashith looks around in absolute confusion as she pulled herself off the floor and folded her wings behind her back. She wore a breast band and loincloth and nothing else. Her skin is a dark bronze color and her eyes are a burnished gold. When she speaks, it seems as if she swallows her vowels as the fangs of a large cat interfere wit her tongue. “I was hunting with my mother and sisters.” She explains. “What happened? It was moondark and I was with my family and then it was light and I was here.”

Mashith stands on four legs, even though her front two “legs” are arms with clawed hands. Her tail flicks behind her much in the same manner a cats would. Gladly, there is nothing behind her which would be damaged by her swishing tail. Her posture is submissive, like a lone wolf finding herself among a strange pack.

"You're in a place called the Nexus. I'm Kaylee, and I'm in charge here. Someone or something probably tried to fling you through the Megaverse and you ended up here, but I'm short on time and energy an' I can't be lookin' up your home world. I can send you someplace for awhile, but I'd need to help you with that eyesight issue. With me so far?"

“I understand.” Mashith replies to the woman. “I have veils to wear over my eyes. My people have many dealings with humans. So we are prepared.” She reaches into a pouch on her belt and pulls out a black veil to show to Kylee. “I am very hungry though. I have not eaten in three days. My mother is making me hunt all my own food now, so my kills are small and not often. Is there perhaps somewhere I could go to get something to eat?”

Mashith looks aorund and shudders. "I smell nothing but trees and earth here, I hear no animals. There is nothing to hunt here"

"Fresh from Toril. Enjoy yourself. Eat quick, okay? I'm really, really busy."

Mashith falls into the carcass and bites deeply into the throat, sucking all the blood she can from it before tearing into the side and swallowing huge chunks of meat whole. Mashith growls in pleasure and here eyes become large as she eats, almost as if any humanity in her vanished as she gorged herself on the carcass.

She eats surprisingly fast, and seems to be able to eat more than any human could in a week. After a while her eating frenzy slows and she becomes lethargic. She is growling deeply in her throat she falls asleep, literally, right next to the carcass.

"I don't have time for this," Kaylee sighs. The punk checks her watch - and the hands accelerate at an exaggerated, almost comical rate. They stop with a soft ding like an elevator reaching its destination, and the punk rocker nudges Meshith with her foot.

"Rise and shine, you're going to hell," Kaylee says cheerfully. "I've got some friends there to help you get into your groove."

Mashith stretches languidly and shakes herself all over with the sound of leather hitting leather as her wings shudder. After yawning widely and kneading the ground with her claws she looks up at Kaylee. “I thank you. I know no one now that I am gone from my pack. Can I hunt there though? If there is another pack there, they might not like me hunting in their territory.” Her large amber eyes look up at Kaylee in a completely trusting manner, very much like a child to an adult whom they respect and trust blindly.

"Umm, hunting depends on one's definition of "edible meat," but you can head to the Taverne and order whatever you like from Cycine. He'll serve it up any way you want to - including alive. In the meantime, find a guy who calls himself Tyler - he'll smell like demons - and he'll lend you a hand getting used to the place. If you aren't a demonologist, look for the only guy who still smells like trees."

Kaylee waves her hand idly and Meshith finds herself hurled through the dimensions - straight to Baator.

"Ugh," the Technomage says as her cell phone rings, and she walks off.
