I have been working on a character sheet for a few weeks now and was wondering if I would be allowed to sell it. I haven't read all of the new licensing, nor do I really plan to. I don't care about making a profit, I would just like to be reimbursed for my time. The second reason I'm asking, is because if I can't sell it in any form, it wouldn't be worth updating with each new release -- too time consuming.

Thanks for you responses.

Wow, well you'd be in pretty heavy competition with people who are doing it for free because they're making them for themselves and sharing them with everyone else. You'll have to read the rules to see if that's something you can sell.

That would be a gaming accessory I believe?

xls actually. When you enter race all modifiers, abilities and proficiencies are automatic. Enter class and all features are automatically given. Enter in abilities scores and all of your powers, hp, .. everything is automatically adjusted. Enter a feat that effects a power, it'll automatically change the appropriate stuff for you. For instance, say you enter in Human Rogue Brutal Scoundral. It'll automatically train you in stealth and thievery and give you your five other options (4 for rogue 1 for human). It'll let you know that sneak attack is 2d6+(str). If you enter in the Backstabber feat it will automatically change to 2d8. Once you enter in your experience it will automatically figure out your level and level up every single applicable skill. You get the point.

I realize that the idea of selling a character sheet may sound greedy, but as you can probably tell I did put a lot of work into it. If there is no demand for it at any price, even as little as $.50, then of course I will provide it free of charge. I've even considered providing it free of charge and just requsting donations.

Yeah, Niz, I'd have to say that's probably a big no-no under the GSL. That's stepping dangerously close to a character generator, which has been ruled out. The GSL wouldn't allow that, especially since it's an interactive app at that point and the GSL only pertains to printed books or downloadable PDFs. You might be able to do it under OGL, but would probably want to check with a lawyer before doing so, which very well might cost more than it's worth, unless you know someone or have more in the works.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but people have beaten you to the punch.

There's even a .xls version in there that does pretty much what you have described here.
