A bit of confusion.

If a setting was to be created, under the GSL, yet you wanted people to utilize WotC materials as a mainstay (even using the character builder), would you be able to mention races like the kalashtar, so long as you didn't provide any mechanics or page references?

Jun 17, 2010 10:06:29 I haven't looked at the GSL in a while. Assuming it doesn't prohibit doing that you might be able to legally. The real question is does it matter. If WotC tries to stop you do you have the resources to prove you are within your rights. Even if you do WotC has (or at least had) a clause in the GSL were they could tell you to stop publishing something. That is probably what they would do rather than go through the expanse of the legal system.

Jun 29, 2010 5:19:01 You can't say that Kalashtar exist in your world, per the SRD. However, you can describe a race of psychics whose dreams lead them to adventuring careers and let anybody who's familiar with kalashtar just assume that's who you mean.
