http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1894400580/amethyst-fantasy-and-technology-collide FOR BOTH NEW AND RETURNING AMETHYST PLAYERS! |
| #2SerenaDawnOct 05, 2013 19:41:17 | Dias Ex Machina have announced that Amethyst, as part of this Kickstarter, will be adapted to both 13th Age AND Fate Core. 13th Age is pending SRD release but our product should be out well after that's established. This makes FIVE different rulesets which Amethyst will support.
4th Edition D&D D&D Next 13th Age Fate Core Pathfinder
Anyone pledging $40 or more receives every edition. $70 gets you all the art in high resolution. Not only that, but those pledging will also receive the playtest rules for Fate Core and 13th Age and be able to playtest the game before the final release. |
| (Reply to #2)SerenaDawn | Yes, it's true! Thanks to a volunteer, Amethyst will now be adding Savage Worlds to its list of supported systems. And of course, when you pledge 20$ or more, you'll receive that edition along with the others. The $40 pledge nets you the core rulebook and the new supplement while $70 will get you all the artwork in high resolution (not kidding, gigabytes worth). Please spread the word! |

| #6SerenaDawnOct 27, 2013 13:14:19 | I'll be running an AMA on Reddit today--Sunday--(related to the Kickstarter) around 4:00. I'm sure I will be fielding (answering) questions concerning this topic. |
| #7VolcilordNov 24, 2013 7:15:48 | I would love to see the Parthian Empire degrees of Mithras (Sol Invictus) worked into a role playing setting. It was the original Lex Magisterium. Babylonian mythos Marduk versus the seven-headed dragon Tiamat gets recycled into later religion. Bel and the Dragon has Daniel the aspect of wisdom of Marduk, who borrows wisdom from the Arc of the Covenant to defeat the fraudulent cult of the dragon for an otherwise fooled King Darius. Michael versus the seven-headed dragon Satan is Babylonian religion plagarized by Saint John, with fatal consequences. The King of Kings of Mithras was the current Parthian emperor, their Pope and archenemy of Rome, so even spies would not want Christians getting in the way of the ultimate goal of the Parthian Empire, the conquest of Rome. Degrees are life energy levels in Mithras. 1 is Crow, Mercury, beaker symbol. 2 is Nymphus, Venus, a secret like the Book of Revelation, lamp, bell, circlet, crown. 3 is Miles or Soldier, Mars, like Saint George slays the dragon instead of Micheal the archangel, helmet, beast plate, lance, drum , belt, pouch. 4 is Leo, Lion, Jupiter, laurel wreath, thunderbolt, Lion of Judah Book of Esdras Two. 5 is Persian, Moon, Phrygan cap, sickle, scickle moon & stars, sling pouch. 6 is Heliodromus, runner in the Sun, white horseman in the Book of Revelation with the Name of Faithful and True with eyes of fire and a sword from his mouth (Marduk), whip, robes, carbon arc lamp if you believe that the Parthian Empire discovery in 155 BC was electric batteries found. 7 is Father, Saturn, mitre, shepard's staff, garnet or ruby ring, eleborate robes jewel encrusted with metallic threads. Degrees go on to Father of Fathers, King, then finally King of Kings. The term blood bath, is from the Mithras ceremony of slaying a bull to infuse life energy into the paying member. Caves and dungeons commonly held temples to Mithras. Christian Science believes more in the supernatural than fantasy literature (my late mother was an a example of this.) I fould that I could heal more quickly by breathing an electric heater, that when I used in youth a Christian Science practitioner for the same problem. Telephone prayer by hire is a modern age example of magic appropriate for fantasy (psychic hot line.) Electric battery, dead frog legs twitching under electric current, carbon arc lamp, carbon arc to molten salt obtains sodium and chlorine, and finally sodium to reduce corundum to aluminum metal; is where early 1800's could make the armor, shield, and sword needed by King Arthur. Enough aluminum oxide impurity in aluminum would strengthen a sword into a sword sharper than glass. The hot air balloon first levitated people in 1783. Greek fire would be sodium stored under olive oil, ( chemistry lab sodium today is kept under oil,) to later to hurn by catapult at enemy ships by the Byzantine Empire. The knowledge of electricity was lost during book burnings and the later Dark Ages. Philistogen of alchemy in the 1600's would be the carbon arc, since it can vaporize anything during arc welding. Later in life Sir Isaac Newton was secretly and illegally an alchemist. Gold has a critical mass, just like hafnium, element 72 of the hafnium wall nuclear reactor, so it can be consumed by nuclear reactor instead of enriched uranium, if a desperate dictator wants to obtain plutonium. Instead of 200 days between scrams for 3.5% U-235 fuel for a 1000 megawatt nuclear reactor, or 260 days for 1000 megawatts helped by hafnium wall, pure gold fission would give Damien (or the communist minister of ideology of China,) 2002 days between scrams as heep keeps a heart lung machine handy should he need a coronary bypass during his rule. Epic destiny nuclear submarine captain, would have a 200-megawatt carbon dioxide laser death ray on board, electrolysis of sea water to obtain liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen rocket fuel, and nuclear fuel rod Morse Code to send secret messages by neutrino-based neutral weak current. 35 miles up on Planet Venus is a perfect setting for Recuperendo (Teen Angel sitcom an example,) as a blimp filled with Earth's atmosphere would float in a carbon dioxide atmosphere at atmospheric pressure 55 -60 degrees Fahrenheit, the cabin not required outside the balloon part, over a surface photographed by spacecraft glowing red at night. Science fiction aliens make wonderful wizards, demons, and monsters, just watch Star Wars. For fantasy, ignore the speed of light whenever nuclear reactor critical mass is approached, and the surface of another planet is substitued for other dimensions. I just saw the Pacific Rim movie last night with friends after I wrote the previous stuff. It looked liked Rita of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers finally got to be a power ranger herself against even bigger monsters. I realized that I used the nuclear submarine as the eidolon of a Pathfinder level 21 + summoner, which means that fancy vehicles get to be the eidolon of modern day and science fiction heroes, with radio to summon robotic drones to do you bidding where needed, and liquid hydrogen preparation from sea water could fuel a specially made nuclear powered aircraft carrier fleet. |
