| #3inkpenavengerJan 04, 2009 16:43:32 | Check out section 7. Would not, say, publishing a sourcebook that depicts the heroes as Christian crusaders fighting the forces of Satan, violate section 7 by endorsing Christianity and depicting Satanism as inferior? My question was, do the religions of ancient Greece and Egypt qualify as "real world" religion since nobody actaully practices them anymore? |
| #4brownieJan 04, 2009 16:55:28 | There are still some people around that practice the Hellenistic religion, I have a friend that does, a church for it and everything. But I really wouldn't think there would be a problem with Greek and Egyptian religions, because I don't really recall any counter beliefs like the example you have given. |

If you had noble Christian knights going against corrupt Muslim cavaliers, I would take two steps away from you. Remember, this same wording was in the D20 STL and real world religions were represented in games then as well. So in conclusion, let me say you should be fine with Ancient Egypt. |

I don't think any modern day Satanists (as in, members of the Church of Satan) would have any real issue with any such depiction, so long as one stayed away from anything like "The heroic and uncorruptable Forces of Christ battle the demon worshipping forces of Anton LaVey, the baby eater," or some such. As for ancient "dead" religions, just try not to make a complete and utter mockery out of any of them and you should be fine. |
