Pirates of the Grey Coast: Blackrift Island is now available at Lulu.com!
Buy Now!

The adventure is available in "standard" and "deluxe" editions. The standard edition is in black-and-white, while the deluxe edition is in color.

The book includes a full adventure to take players from 1st to 3rd level. In the back of the book are encounter worksheets to track monster stats, and 1-inch-scale copies of each encounter map that you can photocopy, cut out, and use as game tiles specifically for this adventure!

Maybe you should include a sample - I am guessing that not many people buy first time writers completely unseen. Certainly not at that price.

Lulu shows a 7-page preview; it might require Flash to see?

I like the cover, generally. I've only had a couple graphic/document design courses, as electives, so my nitpickings are probably personal preference - nothing seems wrong about it.

The layout seems fine. I kind of like how you brought up vehicular combat in its own boxed section, separate from the rest of that page's flow.

I'm not sure how many other modules include "worksheets" or pages meant to be copied/removed and used with the product, but that's a touch that I think adds value to it.

Little things like this make it look well-designed. It doesn't read poorly, but I also wasn't reading too closely at 1 AM, so the most I can really say is that it doesn't look bad.

I'm not sure about the price, especially when compared to WotC modules, but I'm not a businessman, and adventures and campaign settings aren't something I spend money on anyways. I'll keep an eye out for the player's guide, though.

Pssst... you might want to mention that you seem to be hosting some games at Gen Con Indy this August? Maybe best as a link to another thread in a more appropriate section if you want to expand on this event.

Thanks for the critique, ascottbay.
You're right, I do have six demo events at GenCon, but they've been filled up for some time. I will be wandering around the convention showing off both books.

A brief explanation of the price.
-Black and white print-on-demand costs $0.02 per page
-Color print-on-demand costs $0.15 per page.
-plus a base price from the publisher (with a modest profit margin added on for me and the cover artist)

I just figured that having my standard version cost $10 less than a WotC module was a fair price.

I'm also setting up a digital edition that can be downloaded as a .pdf for $7.95

Ah, didn't know about how Lulu worked with previews. I do not use it unless I have to, considering what they charge to ship abroad.

Will be looking for the digital version for starters ;)
