Otherwise you would have non-human characters with 3 at-will powers at 1st level and humans with 4. Not the best choice of design(unless that's how your setting works, which makes it ok for your own setting) for a PC class. The initial look over I gave (not including that bonus at-will which I am unclear on at present how the martial form works) to this class provides me with 336 different 1st level characters available(when not choosing a martial form, just means you don't get the benefit from the martial form for those powers) when keeping with the 2/1/1 at 1st level. 2nd level increases to 1200+ with four utility powers listed. It might just be me, however I believe that this is just too many, though the WotC's Wizard class(Implement Mastery choice included in this calculation) gives roughly the same from the beginning, fighters and rangers being a close as well through their fighting style choice. This is just an initial review of the class. |

Not the best choice of design(unless that's how your setting works, which makes it ok for your own setting) for a PC class. This was a deisgn choice to give 3 at-will powers. The purpose for this was to allow the player to have more options when and how to use their katas since the starting attack power is always an at-will. With such a focus on the at-will powers, it made since to have a variety of powers to choose from. Perhaps it is a difference of opinion but I see more options as better. Some people crave variety in what they create. I can see the point of it being a little bit daunting though if you are a new player however and will be somethnig that we keep in mind as we gather feedback. When certainly look forward to any additional feedback you have as you get a better feel for it. |

Which was a question I had after reading over the kata keyword info. Maybe you should explain that part within the class info somewhere, or even in the Kata keyword's description. Perhaps a section on initiating a Kata. It's not as straightforward when you read it over. |

Maybe you should explain that part within the class info somewhere, or even in the Kata keyword's description. Perhaps a section on initiating a Kata. It's not as straightforward when you read it over. Ah, I figured it was probably that. Boy I tell you, trying to write how the katas work in simple terms was a lot harder than we thought. And just to add to my previous comment to clear it up further, the less at-wills you had access to, the more restricted you were in the encounter and daily powers. We didn't like the feel so we opened up the at-wills to make sure that players felt they had more options. Still somewhat restricted but better. As for kata...I will see if I can explain it better. The goal, ultimately, is to all you to chain attack powers together by using specific powers one right after the other. By using specific powers one right after the other, the sequential powers get better and better. You have to attack the same target but the powers don't have to hit in order to gain the benefit on the sequential powers. So for example: One round 1 you use Face Rake. On round 2 you use Glorious Feline Pounce (and gain the Face Rake Kata benefit). On round 3 you use Claws of the Tiger (and gain the Glorious Feline Pounce benefit). Or, on round 1 you use Face Rake. On round 2 you use Glorious Feline Pounce (and gain the Face Rake Kata benefit). One round 3 you use Face Rake. On round 4 you use Claws of the Tiger (and gain the Face Rake benefit). |
