I mean, okay, all dice look pretty much the same, but they are displayed in exactly the same order and with the same faces showing. Pretty funny. Of course, it looks like Wizards has updated their website so that it is no longer in violation.

Also, I think the GSL forum is a great place for this thread. If nothing else, it shows that even big companies can make mistakes.

Jun 20, 2008 15:29:13 Actually the imaged up for the Die Roller views for the Virtual Gaming Table on WotC's site is now quite different than the one on FG's website. I do seem to recall those images but the current shots are quite different.

I'm suspecting one of two things happened:

1) FG fabricated this because they're upset about the GSL (why didn't they do this earlier as the image stated is no longer present and may not have been for a while) and just want to ruffle some feathers.

2) Someone in the webteam needed a graphic for the site and since they didn't have a working internal shot of the tabletop/dice roller they did some photoediting that borrowed the dice image from one of FG's screenshots. If this was the case that was a bad move by the web team but also a moot point on a C&D order since the image is no longer present and the images shown show a different dice roller system that other than having polyhedron dice on it doesn't share graphical or apparently mechanical similarities.

I'm leaning towards the second (giving FG benefit of the doubt) but do notice in the screenshot it shows die damage for things like magic missile and such which won't be in the DDI tools as explained to us (the tabletop/die roller is strictly rules neutral so wouldn't have options to roll for specific damage plus those amounts don't mesh with 4e rules).

Jun 20, 2008 17:04:27 It is the second one that is true. Scott Rouse said so himself that for an internal marketing mock-up, they used the FG image. ANd that mock-up was *never* supposed to make it out of WotC. However, it did. FG sent a C&D a couple of weks ago, and as sson as WotC became aware of the screw-up, they took it down.
