Since I have nothing better to do I've come up with the idea of creating my own role playing game (like millions before me). The primary reason behind it is that I no longer enjoy the 4e rules or the direction D&D has taken recently. The second reason is that I just enjoy writing and come up with new ways and mechanics to make an interesting game...

There is NOTHING wrong with the new game, its just no longer my cup of tea.

Now im curious to know to what extent I can "steal" equipment lists, spells etc from the d20 D&D 3.5 license to include in my fantasy game.

In short, can I take what I want from here: http://www.d20srd.org/ and make it "my own" without being sued for a gazillion dollars?

Feb 10, 2009 5:48:02 Not in this case since the d20 game license was "open" in a sense? If it was a normal copyright issue I would agree that a posting on the owners board isn't very clever =)

Feb 10, 2009 11:32:10 We typically don't provide free legal advice. The OGL and it's use has been pretty well documented although plenty of people use it and contents of the SRD incorrectly. Try the OGL list serve/forum on enworld has lot's of information to get some basic understanding then consult an IP lawyer

Would rub me as a fan of 4E or producer the very wrong way.
