#1 Xorial May 24, 2008 21:25:05	Just a question out of curiosity. Can an Open Source group of programmers use the GSL to apply D&D 4e rules to a computer RPG? Not basing it on a published world, or anything like that. If they created their own campaign setting, could they use the 4e rules as the rule set?
#2 jrscott May 25, 2008 2:31:57	It would depend on how the GSL is written and as no public copy of it exists yet you could only get an answer from WotC if they chose to reply.
#3 vooood May 30, 2008 8:04:53	I believe that they won't allow computer games as they did not with OGL, but still they can't get trademarks on game mechanics, only on characters, settings, etc (basically "named" stuff). This means nothing prevents you from using the rules as long as you don't mention Dungeons, Dragons, Elminsters, Bigby's spells, Mordenkainen's spells, etc. This is mainly because there is a lot of money in the gaming business and WotC wants it's revenue from the licenses sold this way.
