| #5gamer_zer0Jun 27, 2008 10:59:23 | I made this post sticky. Thanks to Bobthedog for setting it up! |
| #6Ra-TielJun 27, 2008 11:11:08 | RedBrick Limited is also into the GSL.RedBrick Licenses D&D 4E Under GSL So far no announcements for specific products have been made. However, considering that RedBrick has done an awesome job with their version of EarthDawn I have no doubt we'll see some interesting and great 4E products from them. |
| #7jraynackJun 28, 2008 14:21:04 | Alea Publishing Group is moving a lot of their product lines over to 4E GSL including their Feudal Lords campaign setting. Several products new products are in the works such as the Medieval Bestiary and a simple, new innovative way to further enhance your character role. We definitely share the direction WotC is taking with our favorite RPG, wish them the best, and embrace what the GSL does for publishers such as ourselves (to think outside the box). I will post new information as soon as it is available. Josh |
| #8bobthedogJun 28, 2008 14:57:02 | I will post new information as soon as it is available. Please do. I'll update the OP with the products (and product lines) then. This thread makes me feel like Kevin Costner... "If you post it, they will come". :P Edit: I checked some of your listed products. 'Mindcraft' looks like it would make the Psi-fans around here really happy. |

| #10ZherogJun 29, 2008 13:46:19 | They have 4e adventures that are releasing in August. There's lots of speculation about how they're doing it (separate license, using the OGL, etc), but as far as I know nothing definitive has been said. |
| #11guivreJun 29, 2008 13:53:57 |
Yes, it's possible to put out 4e material without using the GSL, there are any number of ways that's possible. |
| #12lord_mhoram_02Jun 30, 2008 14:37:38 | Dunno if it GSL, but Mongoose has two books upcoming. The Paizo store that lists them - the only place I've seen the info. Didn't put a link in as I recall linking to outside store was frowned upon. Easy to find though - Adventureer's equipment guide: The dedicated adventurer can never have too many tools, and this equipment guide geared for Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition ensures he has the right tool at the right time. From armory and specialized herbs, to clothes and mechanized gadgets—if you can't find it in this book, you don't want or need it! Wraith Recon: From open warfare with the Republic of Lorn to the east and its ally, the Kingdom of Torres, in the south, to the northern and westerly wildlands home to goblinoids, ogres, and giants, the Kingdom of Dardarrick is beset on all fronts! And even within Dardarrick itself, evil lurks as the followers of the deposed theocrat Tomarsson plot their fanatical return to power. Enter: The Wraith Recon dedicated special forces tasked with assassinations, raids, reconnaissance, and hostage situations in the name of truth, liberty, and justice! In this original, new setting written specifically for Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition, players take on the role of these legendary Wraith Recon units entrusted with the most dire missions! And while this is a GSL thread, there should be a companion (or change this one) to just "third Party 4E books coming out". It would be nice to have a catalog of stuff like that here. ![]() |

Adamant and Goodman are both releasing non-GSL material now. |

With a number of companies jumping onto 4th I may end up doing the same. | #15jraynackJul 01, 2008 0:29:27 | I checked some of your listed products. 'Mindcraft' looks like it would make the Psi-fans around here really happy. Mindcraft, written by freelancer Doug Meershaert, is an interesting product since it provided an alternative psionic system before the 3.5 psionic handbook. It might make the cut later on as a conversion product, but being an alternate system it might not fit as well as a lot of our other products into the newest edition. Truth be told, I do enjoy psionics (ever since the 1st Dark Sun boxed set; I own all the Dark Sun products - including the old issues of polyhedron) and there is an entire nation/cult devoted to the mind in the Feudal Lords Campaign setting (a portion of the world yet to be released; it is east of Cthonia). So, whether or not Mindcraft sees 4th Edition, we will like to put our hands into the psionic cookie jar;) . As for a brief update, we hope to announce in a few weeks some free 4th Ed./GSL products (we will finalize these plans later should no problems arise with our SOA). |

| #49Rant_CaseySep 16, 2008 15:54:07 | Are there any plans for "Variant Players Handbooks" at this time, along the lines of Arcana Unearthed or Iron Heroes for 3E? I know I would *love* to have access to something like that - a compatible system with entirely different races, classes and powers for 4E. I know there would be a huge amount of demand for that... *hint hint* |
| #50NylanfsSep 16, 2008 17:32:32 | Per the "no redefining core concepts" verbage in the GSL I would say it is VERY unlikely. |
| #51fatumd20Sep 16, 2008 17:47:40 | Depends on how it was designed ultimately. Entirely difference races, classes and powers are viable options for a new book. Nylanfs is right though that we can't change (redefine) an existing classes/powers/races to offer variants since a variant is, at its core, a redefintion which is a no-no. For example, you can do this: Race: Winkar Description: A short and stocky race that are heavily religious and evil Attributes: +2 Wisdom, +2 Charisma But you probably could not do this: Race: Dwarf (variant) Description: Dwarves in appearance except they have glowing eyes and pink beards and can walk on water Attributes: +2 Constitution, +2 Dexterity, +2 Intelligence I can say that Night Reign will offer some new races, classes/paragons/epics and powers as apart of the campaign setting that add a fresh new look to what is in the PHB. |
| #52harley_strohSep 16, 2008 20:23:37 | Joe talks about it on this episode of the OgreCave Audio Report: HM is correct. Of more immediacy, the second wave of adventures and the campaign tracker should be in stores this week. //H |
| #53jraynackSep 19, 2008 12:34:33 | Are there any plans for "Variant Players Handbooks" at this time, along the lines of Arcana Unearthed or Iron Heroes for 3E? I know I would *love* to have access to something like that - a compatible system with entirely different races, classes and powers for 4E. The present GSL does not allow republishing of any material in the any WotC book nor the redefining set rules. So, you will not see alternative 4E Player's Handbooks as Arcana Unearthed or Iron Heroes, because you cannot reprint character creation, combat rules, how magic items work, definitions of conditions, etc. With that said, you can have entirely different (not alternative) races and classes as you suggest. I would look into campaign guides to fill this need. I know the upcoming Feudal Lords setting has new multiclasses along with new powers, feats, rituals, magic items, mundane items, etc. We are also working on what we call "personas", herioc tier character class add-ons each with new powers up to 10th level. |
| #54jraynackSep 24, 2008 10:52:21 | Alea Publishing Group added a further product to our list for releases this year: Noble Multiclass - Feudal Lords Supplement - Oct. 8th This features the Noble multiclass character. Why a multiclass character than a full blown class? Simply put, anyone should become a noble: Noble Fighter, Noble Warlord, Noble Wizard, etc. So what's inside:
|
| #55JohnLynchSep 24, 2008 20:28:43 | Looks interesting. Although is there a reason you've published it as a Feudal Lords supplement? It looks like it could work with any campaign setting. Or is there FL specific stuff in there that you haven't mentioned? |
| #56jraynackSep 24, 2008 22:50:12 | Looks interesting. Although is there a reason you've published it as a Feudal Lords supplement? It looks like it could work with any campaign setting. Or is there FL specific stuff in there that you haven't mentioned? The reason we will publish it as a Feudal Lords product is that it fits with that theme and, should you like the product, you might give our campaign setting a second glance. With that said, all of our Feudal Lords products can and does work with any campaign setting that follows the 4E rules in the core books published by WotC. The thing that seperates the Feudal Lords setting is the feel and philosophy behind it more so than rules. Any new rules are simple "add ons" to the exisitng system and not rule changes. So, in other words, you can purchase this particular product, or any FL product, without having to purchase the campaign setting or any other FL product. In short, each FL product is stand alone. Anyway, I hope that answers your questions and thanks. |
| #57JohnLynchSep 25, 2008 0:22:27 | you can purchase this particular product, or any FL product, without having to purchase the campaign setting or any other FL product. That's whatr I was hoping to here Thanks jraynack. In that case I'll be adding it to the list of products my players can use in my game as I think it will certainly be helpful. Even if I homerule the bloodlines a bit to incorporate commoners as well as nobles. In fact it could be that the bloodlines power source could be the perfect way to introduce Eberron's Dragonmarks into Forgotten Realms. |
| #58jraynackSep 25, 2008 8:40:07 | Even if I homerule the bloodlines a bit to incorporate commoners as well as nobles. You can easily say that a commoner is a long line of peasant heroes or he might be a second or third generation fallen noble looking to regain his family lands. In fact it could be that the bloodlines power source could be the perfect way to introduce Eberron's Dragonmarks into Forgotten Realms. I never thought of that, but that is a great idea how to use them. I did (and do) like the idea of Dragonmarks, but I thought having them as feats were a little clunky. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the product should you and your player's get. If there is anything else I can do, just let me know. |

| #75fissionessenceApr 28, 2009 2:17:29 | Silent7Seven Games (www.Silent7Seven.com) currently has three released products under the GSL. The Lunar Scrolls contains 31 pages of content, including four paragon classes (a multiclass-only class combined with a paragon path), four short character stories, an epic destiny, a page of feats, two pages of magic items, six pages of rituals, and five pages of monsters. Read more, plus download a free preview of the crescent striker and table of contents here. Advanced Class: Druid — Favored Forms is the first installment of the Advanced Class line from Silent7Seven Games; it includes seven heroic feats and four paragon feats that allow your druid character to truly manifest the form of your favorite animal or magical beast. The heroic feats grant you animal abilities available only in that shape, and the paragon tier feats take it a step further, granting you access to special powers that tap into the inherent powers of your favored form. Read more and take a look at one of the heroic tier feats here. Advanced Class: Sorcerer — Aberrant Blood is the next title from the Advanced Class line. While some sorcerers gain their power from innate bonds to chaos magic, or draconic heritage, the aberrant blood sorcerer has the unfortunate presence of Far Realm corruption in his ancestry. Grow tentacles, open gibbering mouths all across your body, and grow beholder stalk eyes with this new sorcerer class feature and its powers. To finish it off, there's a bonus fourth page containing the Twisted Descendant paragon path, which you can download as a free preview. Read more and download the preview here. ![]() When considering our products, make sure to check out the 7scale. It serves as a 'warning label' for complexity and novelty, to help you make an informed decision. The last thing we want is for someone to buy our products, and have it sit unused on their computer or bookshelf because it's way out of their preferred play style. Read about it here. In addition to our GSL products, Silent7Seven Games has released two installments of the Pop Creatures line. It's a free, non-GSL release. Pop Creatures products generally consist of one-page adaptations for characters and creatures from other media into the D&D 4E system. These products are always free, and they include both monster-format and player-character-format versions of the character. The player character formats you will see in Pop Creatures are based on normal character building rules, but will almost always take liberties in power selection and certain restrictions. The results should be reasonably balanced, but Silent7Seven Games makes no guarantees! Thanks for looking, and we hope you enjoy ![]() ~ Andrew Silent7Seven Games |

| #81cinderemberJul 22, 2009 20:59:12 | Alluria Publishing is in the process of preparing the Remarkable Races line for a print compilation product. During this process, every race will get a slight makeover, including new formatting, another pass through editing, minor tweaks, and, in some cases, new art. We will upload the changes as we make them, and are they offered to those that already purchased the product free of charge. Each race will go on sale for $1.95 after it is updated. Currently, the Anumus, the Obitu, the Oakling, the Mahrog, and the Boggle have been updated to the new format. We hope you enjoy the new and improved Remarkable Races! Thank you, J. | #83arctostaphylsMay 22, 2010 6:50:22 | Would DDMGuild be considered GSL? They are officially licensed by WOTC, but are non-profit and run by volunteer gamers. Their website is www.ddmguild.com I've been trying to get WOTC to give them some newer press than the old articles already on wizards.com. You've got to do a search for 'ddmguild' in the Wizards search box to see them. They are keeping the Miniatures Battles Game updated and going which really promotes sales of D&D minis, so WOTC should help them out a bit more I think. |
