I'm a writer, and I have a love of D&D; sometimes my stuff "feels" like an RPG.    With that in mind, would it be breaking the rules of the OGL to use D&D monsters in my fiction? I know it's okay to use them in games, but in a different medium, I'm not sure. To be clear, I don't write *for* D&D's novel branch, this is completely independant of that (although I do wonder...). I know some monsters, ie the Beholder and the Mind Flayer, are out of the question because they don't appear in the SRDs (at least in the editions I play, ie up to 3.5) and thus you're not allowed to publish them in 3rd party products.    I ask this because I'm interested in using a monster in a current short story I'm working on, and it's basicallly like a Drider. So the question is, is it okay to use D&D monsters in fiction?
