Apr 08, 2009 16:37:44 I have a class I'm working on for my upcoming campaign setting. I'd like to post it as a playtest here, but I'm not sure in which forum to place it for a reasonable response.

Can I even post something like this on the WotC boards? Should I post it here, since it's going to be published under the GSL? Should it go in House Rules since it's not official?

Any help I can get would be appreciated.

Apr 08, 2009 17:14:30 Before you post anything - especially anything you plan to publish - be sure to re-read the Terms of Use for the forums. IANAL, but the nutshell version: if you post it here, you grant WotC a license to do whatever they want with it, which includes publishing it. They do not have to compensate you - or even give you credit - if they do so.

As for where to post it if you do decide... you could either post to the House Rules forum, or the appropriate class forum (leader, controller, etc).

I looks like they would be able to.
However the Terms of Use are written in legealese, so I'm not sure.

I do want to point out that their ability to loot freely from things not even posted on their site is a bit shady. This makes me feel even better about verbally abusing them as often as I do. Really, I should stop pulling punches altogether.

It's to cover their buts. I doubt they'll actually use anything that this linked, but the clause is enough that they could. Therefor this prevent lawsuits over something being published being coincidentally similar something linked.

As for requesting playtesters, if anybody has time and some experience, PM me and I can get you a NDA. After that's complete, I'll send you stuff to work with.
