#1 balmas Jul 09, 2009 19:21:31	I personally am glad there aren't wizards in the real world; it would be way too easy. BUT, if they did exist, I can think of a few good uses for spells. Purely if one were evil, of course. 1: Mage Hand. Easiest way of shoplifting ever. 2: Charm. Who wouldn't want control of people? Charm your boss and make him give you a raise. 3: Some guy cut you off? Really, it's a toss-up between disintegrating his car or magic-missiling his tires. Depends on whether you can get back in front of him. 4: Nothing like a meteor swarm and some mindless destruction to make your day.

#6 thompsja Jul 10, 2009 17:03:28	13. Given that sorcerers get their powers in adolescense, Charm Person would be ubiquitous. Not to mention Suggestion during every sort of negotiation. 14. Want to steal a car? Cast Shrink Item and it fits in a backpack. 15. The pornographic possibilities of Alter Self are best left unexplored. 16. Most spells are designed around combat, and have many military applications - even Longstrider would be nice. 17. I would love to cast Fox's Cunning. All the divination spells would work wonders in the stock market. Moment of Prescience could earn you millions, just from one trade, assuming every other trader doesn't have it. 18. Who needs air travel when you've got teleport? 19. Finally, magic items that have incorporated fabricate as a use-activated spell would utterly change the worlds economy. Prices would fall for all sorts of manufactured goods. 20. Finally, people who can cast cure disease would cure cancer. The upshot is that if we could cast the spells in the PHB, the world would be a markedly different place.

In Shadowrun, the Supreme Court ruled it's a violation of your basic rights. Cuts out the middleman though. -Animate Dead; cheap foreign labor is a thing of the past. Also, a more cost effective means of a "droid army" so to speak. -Mark of Justice; prison overcrowdings most direct solution? -Identify; screw Antiques Road Show. Furthermore, this would be a killer espionage tool. No encryption or confusion could stand in your way. -Augury; should I buy GE at $21.50/share? -Continual Flame; screw Duke Electricity, replacing headlamps, etc. Never have to deal w/ a darkened "Crime Alley" again. -Tongues & Comprehend Languages; all those wasted electives in foreign languages...Also, will help international diplomacy -Silence; incredibly dangerous in a world of really loud artillery, guns, planes, etc. -Prestidigation; dry clean, dust, vacume, whole home, etc in less than 1 min.
