#1 Thistle_Rosewood Mar 10, 2014 21:25:44	Greetings one and all   The DM and I disagreed on a item / ruling today and I seek to have it clarified if I may. We do play 3.5 edition of Dungeons and Dragons.   I play the healer, and I have the Feat Mystical Healer which allows me up to an addition 4D6 when I am casting Healing spells ( http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/3rd-party-feats/rite-publishing/general-feats---3rd-party---rite-publishing/mystical-healer )     I also have the arm band of Maximized healing from the Magic item compenduim. ( page 72 )   ( When you activate this armband of maximized healing, the next haling spell of 6th level or lower that you cast is automatically maximized, ( As the maximize spell feat ) but with no adjustments to the spell level or casting time )   Maximize Spell [Metamagic] Benefit All variable, numeric effects of a spell modified by this feat are maximized. Saving throws and opposed rolls are not affected, nor are spells without random variables. A maximized spell uses up a spell slot three levels higher than the spell’s actual level. An empowered, maximized spell gains the separate benefits of each feat: the maximum result plus one-half the normally rolled result.     So, When I rolled my healing spell, in this case, it was a cure mod, I used the arm band. I maxed the 2D8 for 16 pts. I gwet 4 D6 for 24 pts, plus 10 for my level.  So my Cure mod did 40 points healing.   The Dm said no. Only the 2D8 is Maximized.   I pointed out that the Maximize feat says ALL Variable are maximixed, and he said, no.   So what I want, is the official ruling on this. Does anyone know the answer. #2 Krusk Mar 11, 2014 14:29:15	You have a 3rd party pathfinder feat. It won't translate and shouldn't be expected to function without house rules in 3.5. Your DM has to make those house rules.   In this instance RAW I'd agree with your DM, maximize doesn't apply to your feat, it applies to your spell. RAI - its pathfinder so no one has any idea, and the designers will disagree/change their stance as needed.    Krusks House Rule - You are healing, who cares about a couple of points here or there. You are going to be way under powered regardless. Go ahead and apply it.    You will not find an official ruling on this as it is a pathfinder (not 3.5) feat and it is a 3rd party feat at that. Being a pathfinder feat, you won't find any 3.5 rules referencing it. Being 3rd party, the pathfinder designers won't talk about it either.    Best bet - Contact this guy, Feats 101.
