I have a few ideas for characters kicking around in my head, and I was wondering if anybody could help with some of their backgrounds/personalities (and the Caracter Developement forum seemed 4E specific):

(Fintirtiathar ux tibur) Heskan: LG Human->Dragonborn Paladin; still working on personality and background

Grew up in a church of Bahamut from adolescence after his town was ravaged by a clan of green dragons, was recently called by Bahamut to become a Dragonborn.

Thorgisrich Denniar: NG Half-Orc Ranger (archery; first enemy Orcs; animal Wolf); mostly still working on personality

Archer who grew up in a farming/mining town that has to deal with lots of attacks from a large Orc tribe, but the populous has learned from positive experience to distinguish the tribal Orcs that wage war on them from the ones like Thorgisrich's mother that leave the tribe to join and fight to defend the mostly-human town (Thorgisrich commonly volunteered for scouting missions in the nearby forests), even though traders from larger cities do not always make the distinction.

Deshara the Laughing Shadow: CG Catfolk Rogue w/ some Fighter; mostly still working on personality

Grew up in a family of performers who belonged to a cult of Hlal, even though he was never a spell-caster like most of the others. The family was arrested and sentenced to life in prison for a play that insulted a magistrate, but Deshara was broken out by a friend and the two of them tried to steal back some of the family's magic artifacts from the magistrate's armory to help break the rest of them out. They were caught by the guards and Deshara's friend tried to teleport the two of them out, but it didn't work correctly and Deshara ended up half-way across the continent. In the months since, he's had to sell all of the artifacts he had on him, only keeping the Slaad puppet that his sister Krissara used for ventriloquism acts/spells.

Deshara devotes himself mostly to learning how to fight better; he probably uses a fake name, despite the distance from the country in question (partially because he's embaressed to have a girl's name ); he prefers knives to swords, uses a kukri (that he named "Badger") and/or a dagger ("Hornet"); doesn't like it when people treat obedience as a goal in and of itself.

Narvas Cremeile: CN Tiefling Divining-Wizard; mostly still working on background

Grew up an outcast due to demonic appearence

Doesn't feel that he should be forced to help strangers that can't compensate him for his trouble, as he feels that that would somehow devalue the times that he chooses to do so; plays up people's assumptions about his demonic nature when he wants to scare them; doesn't think that the gods should've declared creating undead as ipse dixit Evil instad of just dangerous, and casts what he feels are enough Good spells to taunt the gods that they can't send him to the Abyss for the necromancy; doesn't see the point in keeping somebody alive who tried to hurt him, even if they've already been incapacitated; likes to show off how much smarter he is by following up explanations of his spells with feigned surprise that other didn't already know.

Does anybody have ideas to help me out with any of these?

I set this up into character strengths and weaknesses you might incorporate.
HESKAN
Strengths - Raised in the church, he knows all his proper etiquette, has had access to books of knowledge on various dragons and of course Bahamutic literature. He is a Paladin. Assuming that means he is truly a paladin, he strives to be a good guy, chivalrous, and so on. The dragon born aspect gives him an air of confidence and self-assuredness.
Weaknesses - Having been raised in the church, he may have trouble relating to secular Bahamutites. His self-confidence might sometimes be seen as a sense of superiority. More important than that... he was likely orphaned as a child by these dragons and has a burning passion to set that right by killing the green dragons, any minions associated, etc. He might have a violent streak under his soft exterior.

THORGISRICH
Strengths - His mother left the tribe. She is a good symbol of a strong maternal figure. I can see her as a sort of strong wise woman capable of tough love. She goes out of her way to do things in ways her former tribe would find perplexing... helping her neighbors, giving them advice, caring for them. She would be seen with fear, awe and respect amongst her new 'tribe', the farming town. She is quite strict on Thor and holds him to a near-impossible standard. He respects his mother and strives to make her proud... always lending a hand, using his physical capabilities as a positive and a benefit to those around him. His companion is a Wolf... he has similar traits... but is more of a lone wolf.
Weaknesses - He wears his differences as a badge of honor. He also has a bit of a martyr complex. He'll help you out, but has a tendency to constantly remind you of his 'sacrifices'. This stems from a low ego on his part, coming from a constant beratement by his well-meaning mother. Why archer? He also has an unfounded fear that if he kills up close he might get the bloodlust of his barbarian father.

DESHARA - The A at the end of the name makes me think female. DESHARO?
Strengths - Not apt to fall for blind nationalism. Definitely not obsequious. Laughing shadow? Sounds like a bard level or two might be more appropriate to the description you gave, even more so than fighter, even though you said he doesn't use magic, it's easy enough for a bard to pick spells that are subtle as far as magic goes. Maybe low charisma when you do stats? Low enough to lose spells. Deshara's performances might make for a better show in his newfound location. His sense of right over might has the makings for a good underdog hero.
Weaknesses - Doesn't know when to shut his big mouth. Can't stop himself if he thinks it's funny. But he's too smart to play the jester. Way too smart for his own good. He thinks he's smarter than the local authorities, and everyone else for that matter.

NARVAS -
Strengths - The only thing I could find redeemable was that he has the courage of his conviction if nothing else.
Weaknesses - He sounds more neutral evil than chaotic neutral. Almost a perfect description of neutral evil, actually... except for his contentiousness with the gods which seems without reason other than arrogance/pride. His extremely low wisdom is apparent. His arrogance is likely to lead him into trouble quickly. Overly cautious and willing to kill anyone who crosses him, even offends him... his chaotic side showing again. I believe if given the chance he'd try to tell the gods what to do. His poor social skills do not bely the fact that he truly would like some sort of companionship, friendship at least, someone who understands him. He tends to find someone who he thinks is like him and latches on. When the relationship/friendship fails, his pain causes him to see his former friend as not only an enemy, but a nemesis. Never admits mistakes.
