Hey gang, First time poster.

My group and I play 3.5E and I am about to start playing a 7th level Human Cleric with good and law as domains, I am for sure taking leadership, but beyond that I have not selected feats my stats came out  to be as follows
STR: 16

DEX: 10

CON: 14

INT: 10

WIS: 17

CHA: 14

So over all my stats feel solid. For theme I am taking a bastard sword because it's my favorite weapon in D&D (I spent the feat to take EWP Bastard Sword). I am using Full plate an Animated Large Steel Shield and have approximately 3k left to spend Weapon has Holy and Keen enhancements on it.

Backstory wise I am playing a former captain of the main countries military force, I am techniquelly draftable by the nation at any time, DMs discretion. Currently however my adventuring is open ended. I want to do some battlefield healing but I also want to spend a good amount of time smashing enemies. Any ideas on spells/feats/gear? Please provide the book you are using as reference. Also would like some pointers on role playing as I have not played this archtype before. My character just got out of a bloody war with Orcs and now operates on the frontier where we have an uneasy peace with the orc tribes. The kingdom has a nation of hobgoblins it just ended a war with on the other side from where my party is geographically. Being on the sea may be a thing because of one of my party members (see below).

Edit: My cohort will be stuck at level 3 to start per my DMs decision and must also be a purely martial class.

My party consists of two wizards a pirate/ninja/fighter/something else and a duskblade all level 7. One of the wizards is following the line of master crafter battlefield control mage. The other is following the route of summoning. The duskblade has no direction  so far and the other player is being a party face/skill monkey/comic relief/contender for party leader.

I am trying to go the route of party leader I am planning on using my calm manner and battle tactics to employ this.

The DM is also giving us access to spell like abilities of his own creation. (More on that later when I have more info from him)
