| #1RelicaDec 28, 2013 14:29:24 | Most likely this is not the right location to ask this question or been asked before, but here goes
Currently I am creating a 3.5 Ratling Rogue/monk, though I do not care to optimize my character ( More for the RP then for showing off here). But I was wondering sense both classes has Evasion, does this mean I get improve evasion if I get it another time? Like uncanny dodge? and if so, what book ref. is it in so I can show it in case someone wants me to ask for it?
Thank you |

That being said, according D&D SRD there are "special cases" but they are very specific:
These rules can also be found in the 3.5e PHB page 59.
There is no "special case" for evasion and in my opinion with good reason. Improved evasion is a 9th level monk ability only and based on the assumption of applying the above special cases to evasion a monk/rogue could get improved evasion as a level 4 character (2/2)...just a touch overpowered.
That being said, as a DM, I would offer the compromise of you character being able to acquire improved evasion at character level 9 a majority of which have to be monk. And all other monk abilities would shift up level. So if your character were 5 monk/4 rogue the character could get improved evasion instead of Purity of Body. But then:
Purity of Body would be the 6th level monk ability Bonus Feat and slow fall 30ft would be the 7th level monk abilities Wholeness of Body would be the 8th level monk ability And Slow fall 40ft would be the 9th level monk ability. |

Yeah, there's no stacking of evasion to get improved evasion (which both monks and rogues can get around 10th level). However, as a houserule, it wouldn't be too overpowered to allow the character to get it when they have a combined total of nine or ten character levels...

Solution? Ask your DM. Maybe its me. (its probably not me...) |
