We are wondering: If your playing a fighter...and you choose power attack as a feat, can you use that feat with the fighter powers of reaping strike, sure strike, or cleave?? Or is power attack only used in the basic melee attack?
#2 rainkiss Jun 08, 2008 19:57:34	Looks to me like you can do it. The feat reads a "melee attack," and Cleave, Reaping Strike, and Sure Strike are melee attacks. If they want to take the penalty to hit (and they have to declare BEFORE they roll!), then they get the bonus to damage.

Or is power attack only used in the basic melee attack? You can use power attack with Cleave and Reaping Strike, BUT the damage bonus will not apply to the static damage results of those powers. The +3 damage bonus only applies to "damage rolls", which means it only applies when you actually roll the dice for damage. For instance, if you use Power Attack while doing a Cleave, you will do +3 damage to the main target if you hit, but you will not do +3 damage to the adjacent enemy. Similarly, on a Reaping Strike, you will do +3 damage on a hit, but you will not do +3 damage on a miss since that result is static, not a roll. (Note: This was per an official response from WotC.)
