Okay so a new player has chosen to be a bard. They have a +2 Charisma bonus offering 1 first level bonus spell.

The character is level 2 so the Bard knows 5 zero level spells and 2(+1 bonus) first level spells.

The bard can cast 3 of her 5 zero level spells per day but how many first level spells does the bard carts per day?

The PHB says 0 first level spells per day so how does a Bard cast any first level spells? Does this come down to the bonus spells? How many first level spells can a 2nd level Bard cast during the day with +2 Charisma (+1 bonus first level spell.)

UndecidedConfused, please help before tomorrows session, thank you!

Yes, it comes down to the bonus spells.  Base zero, plus 1 for her 14-15 Charisma.

So just to confirm does that bonus spell add both an extra known spell and an extra spell per day?

You kind of wrote that wrong, but I think I know what you meant.

The Charisma Bonus for 3.5 Bards only applies to spells per day, not spells known.

To quote from the d20SRD:

Unlike spells per day, the number of spells a bard knows is not affected by his Charisma score

Bards have a set limit to number of spells known.

Cleating it up?  I'm sorry.  I didn't mean to mess with your turf! ;-P

"T" and "R" are right next to each other on the keyboard. It was clearly a mistake. I was trying to thank you for clearing up my questions concerning the bards spells.

But now CorrinAvatan I renounce my thanks and bid you good day sir, I said good day sir!

"Just in case I failed to mention; I am playing D&D 3.5e." - It is attached to every post I've ever written as a signature. Not that it matters, your brining up a topic that was answered five days ago.
