A broader definition of natural?

We recall having read a book a while ago that had some organization or group of people, maybe a sect or something that had a broader definition of what defined 'natural,' We specifically recall that things like Vampires and the like were considered not necessarily to be 'unnatural,' but were a part of nature and a part of a 'greater balance.'

They viewed the general idea of the mainstream definition of 'nature' as narrow-minded.

Does anyone have any clue what We're talking about? We've been scouring various sourcebooks on varied campaigns forever, this is driving us crazy.

Natural; would be humans. The easiest and most simple answer - at least, humans of the middle world.

Pixie (had to :P) on the other hand are 'fey' ... and therefore, not natural.

Shades have the keyword 'Undead' despite being alive. As do Revenants - so personally, not natural. I'd incorperate this notion into any logic you're attempting to use for whatever purposes you need the information for.

So; if the create or NPC has any 'KEYWORDS' stating otherwise, like ELEMENTAL, FEY or UNDEAD - assume they are not of nature and act accordingly.

Unless I've missed the point completely, I apologise.

As for books - Heroes of ... Feywild/elemental chaos/shadowfell ... might help you with information lacking. If not, the sourcebooks for GM's might be hiding those snipets of information.
