| #1deadorcJan 28, 2009 8:00:34 | Hello, Has anyone knocked up a party adventurers contract ie for the players in the adventuring party to sign? If you have can you post it? |
| #2rexracerjrJan 28, 2009 8:05:04 | My cleric made a contract that charges his teamates for each heal. |
| #3Delazar78Jan 28, 2009 8:10:34 | My cleric made a contract that charges his teamates for each heal. so, the wizard charges for each spell cast, and the rogue for each target killed? contributing to party success with your abilities is nothing more than your duty. it's dumb to pay for it. |
| #4deadorcJan 28, 2009 8:19:48 | Was thinking more along the lines of:
etc |
| #5rexracerjrJan 28, 2009 8:21:14 | so, the wizard charges for each spell cast, and the rogue for each target killed? I was kidding |
| #6Seeker95Jan 28, 2009 8:59:56 | The closest we ever came to such things was the contract associated with membership in one or another guild. I'll dig around and see if I can find any of them in my old files. |
| #7Delazar78Jan 28, 2009 9:59:17 | I was kidding aw, ok, then... :D |
| #8Delazar78Jan 28, 2009 10:04:16 | Was thinking more along the lines of: These seem nice guidelines, but are things that have to be decided by the players, or actually by their characters. Then their characters can sign a "contract" between themselves, although enforce it is still up to the characters. As a DM, i could never say to a player "you signed the contract, you MUST give 10% for the pot"... players do and are supposed to do what they want. * * * In the group i DM, players divide treasure/expenses like this: Gold - share equally Magic Items - goes to the character that can use it. If more characters can use it, they roll a d20, highest roll wins (in game, they have a chance-game, they flip a coin, or draw the longest straw kind of thing) Raise Dead - usually the dead guy pays for his resurrection, but fellow players always offer to contribute Other Rituals - party shares expenses. |
| #9Arbitrary_AardvarkJan 28, 2009 12:25:10 | Actually, it isn't a bad idea to set aside a certain percentage of the monetary treasure for the casters. In 3rd edition, it isn't a bad idea for the party to subsidize buff scrolls or wands. In 4th edition, it isn't a bad idea for the party to help pay for rituals and components, since most of them help the party. |
| #10ShiftkittyJan 28, 2009 14:18:12 | In the group i DM, players divide treasure/expenses like this: This is pretty much how my group does it, except that when more than one person can use a magic item, they haggle it out. Someone usually gives up the item in exchange for the next goodie they find. If someone picked something they found out later wasn't what they expected, in-party trading crops up. |
| #11cardboardcarnageJan 28, 2009 15:04:02 | Splitting cost for rituals is a good idea since for the most part they benefit everyone... magic items go to whomever can put them to use best, if nobody can they are sold later, if more than one person can use it, they talk it out between themselves and figure out who gets it. D. |
| #12orkcrusher_dupJan 28, 2009 16:13:34 | I am writing a Guild contract for adventurers to sign. Just finishing up law school, so I'm pretty good at making a binding contract. ![]() |
| #13Alter_BoyJan 28, 2009 16:13:48 | In my group, an adventurer's contract would quickly become TP or ![]() |
| #14evilgeniusxJan 28, 2009 18:59:02 | In my group, an adventurer's contract would quickly become TP or Agreed... it would become an out-of-game plot reason to role play situations a certain way... a meta-gamey "hey i was just playing my alignment, and your character doesnt know i am double dipping/embezzling"... fun? probably, annoying? possibly... |
| #15saint_matthewJan 28, 2009 21:12:24 | No but i am charging PC's for the creation of Alchemical Items & i'm charging them 10-20gp above book price. This may seem mean, but the money goes into a seperate account, which is then used to purchase more alchemcial formulas or emergency items for the groups benefit. Its very Hackmaster, but it seems to be working at the moment. |
| #16koukJan 29, 2009 3:55:19 | My group always splits gold as evenly as possible, gives items to whoever can use it most and recycles the older ones amongst the group, and chips in for any ritual components necessary. When I DM I make sure to include some amount of reagents or raw residuum every now and again in place of coins to make sure the ritual casters have some without having to start passing around the hat. It goes straight to them and they are the ones who use it, so they get entirely reimbursed by the party in advance. |
| #17waegmundJan 29, 2009 4:39:32 | May I point you to the 'articles' that Capt. Bartholemew "Black Bart" Roberts made his crew sign. These are circa 1720 and designed for a pirate ship, but the idea is similar: I. Every man has a vote in affairs of moment; has equal title to the fresh provisions, or strong liquors, at any time seized, and may use them at pleasure, unless a scarcity (not an uncommon thing among them) makes it necessary, for the good of all, to vote a retrenchment. II. Every man to be called fairly in turn, by list, on board of prizes because, (over and above their proper share) they were on these occasions allowed a shift of clothes: but if they defrauded the company to the value of a dollar in plate, jewels, or money, marooning was their punishment. If the robbery was only betwixt one another, they contented themselves with slitting the ears and nose of him that was guilty, and set him on shore, not in an uninhabited place, but somewhere, where he was sure to encounter hardships. III. No person to game at cards or dice for money. IV. The lights and candles to be put out at eight o'clock at night: if any of the crew, after that hour still remained inclined for drinking, they were to do it on the open deck V. To keep their piece, pistols, and cutlass clean and fit for service. VI. No boy or woman to be allowed amongst them. If any man were to be found seducing any of the latter sex, and carried her to sea, disguised, he was to suffer death;(so that when any fell into their hands, as it chanced in the Onslow, they put a sentinel immediately over her to prevent ill consequences from so dangerous an instrument of division and quarrel; but then here lies the roguery; they contend who shall be sentinel, which happens generally to one of the greatest bullies, who, to secure the lady's virtue, will let none lie with her but himself.) VII. To desert the ship or their quarters in battle, was punished with death or marooning. VIII. No striking one another on board, but every man's quarrels to be ended on shore, at sword and pistol. (The quarter-master of the ship, when the parties will not come to any reconciliation, accompanies them on shore with what assistance he thinks proper, and turns the disputant back to back, at so many paces distance; at the word of command, they turn and fire immediately, (or else the piece is knocked out of their hands). If both miss, they come to their cutlasses, and then he is declared the victor who draws the first blood.) IX. No man to talk of breaking up their way of living, till each had shared one thousand pounds. If in order to this, any man should lose a limb, or become a cripple in their service, he was to have eight hundred dollars, out of the public stock, and for lesser hurts, proportionately. X. The captain and quartermaster to receive two shares of a prize: the master, boatswain, and gunner, one share and a half, and other officers one and quarter. XI. The musicians to have rest on the Sabbath Day, but the other six days and nights, none without special favour. |
| #18frostwolfJan 29, 2009 4:48:07 | My cleric made a contract that charges his teamates for each heal. This, I like! I have a player in my group that refuses to upgrade his defences and an so damn tired of having to be his HP battery that I refuse to play a Cleric. I'm gonna give this idea a shot though. Hmm... Cleric of Cas. Need to find a good PrC now... |
| #19cauthonJan 29, 2009 10:24:10 | You could make it a bonding contract - placing a spell on each player that is hard (or impossible) to break. |
| #20frostwolfJan 29, 2009 16:21:38 | no no! Just the one will due. and I shan't tell him whaqt I'm casting on him. He'll have to allow whatever I'm casting or risk saveing vs. a heal spell. |
| #21justinjesselJan 29, 2009 19:04:42 | Here is the one my player's wrote up and have been using and amending throughout our game. We, the Business of Heroes, heretoafter referred to as the Business, do solemnly swear to: I. Travel and not settle in one area. Ia. Big Boss, as CEO, is exempt from this law. (3rd month, ebbing moon) II. Take the moral high road in each situation. IIa. Kale Arcane asks for an amendment and is voted down. (2nd month, full moon) IIb. Kale Arcane asks for an amendment and is voted down. (3rd month, ebbing moon) IIc. Kale Arcane asks for an amendment and is voted down. (3rd month, gibbous moon) III. Not actively pursue the downfall of each other. IIIa. Kale Arcane asks for a rewriting and is voted down. (2nd month, full moon) IV. Keep the secrets of the group within the group alone. In the event of a tied decision, a voted upon member ___Blue___ will decide the course of action (to be decided upon democratically, along with the treasurer, holder of the group coffers: Adventuring Treasurer: ___Khorin_Redmaine___; Business CEO/Treasurer: ___Big_Boss___) Addition or the forced resignation of a member of the Business is decided by absolute majority, currently ___5___. Amending the contract requires unanimous decision. Amendment 1: We allow Big Boss to come into the Business in an advisory and CEO practice, and all his holdings and assets are now run by Big Boss separately and as part of the Business. Amendment 2: Breaking any of the four stated rules willingly and/or maliciously results in the immediate removal of the offender from the Business without the need to unanimous vote. |
| #22arkhailJan 30, 2009 0:50:50 | This is one area that really bugs me about my group. Inevitably all new character interaction amounts to: "Hey fellow adventurer we just met an five minutes ago. Since we trust you implicitly with our lives already, how about we also split all of our treasure with you with out so much as a handshake? While we're at it, you just carry it all too. We trust you." |
