| #2Arcane_GuyverOct 15, 2008 19:42:39 | The bonus? RP potential. In Arcane Power I'm predicting there'll be a feat you can take which'll give you mechanics to back up the familiar's existence. |
| #3drmorganesOct 15, 2008 20:04:30 | To be specific: 4th Edition eliminated familiars from the list of wizard class features. There is speculation that the forthcoming sourcebook Arcane Power will include additional rules for them. Adventurer's Vault contains several items tagged for use in a "companion slot", and includes a brief run-down of rules for using "companions" from things like a Bag of Tricks. If you're playing 4th Edition, having a familiar does nothing for you at the moment beyond giving you something to roleplay. (Think Minsc and Boo from BioWare's Baldur's Gate line of video games.) If you're playing 3.5 Edition, I'm sure the rules are somewhere in the sourcebook referencing the Drow. |
