I half a concept in mind of a fighter/rogue 2/3 fighter, and was wondering what race would be the best. Is I don't find anything better, I'm going human. His fighting style is two-weapon. The human will give me a boost to feats, and fits in almost anywhere, but I may want to be another race. His primary focus is being independent, stealthy, and a swordsman. Does anyone have any thoughts?

Human seems like the best choice for sheer versatility. If you are starting from 1st level and your first level will be Rogue (advisable due to the huge number of skill points), then you might want to consider Elf, since that will grant longsword and rapier proficiency off the bat and a nice +2 to Dex. If your DM allows it, it might be fun to try this concept with a Hobgoblin.

Human works well, probably better than most other options. The only reason for choosing a non-human race is for flavour over crunch. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but if you have no preference human is good.

Are you sure you want fighter/rogue, or just full-BAB-class/rogue? Because I think a swashbucker/rogue with the Daring Outlaw feat could pull off what you want a bit more effectively. Human's a good choice. Goblin would also do the job well. Halfling might be an obvious choice, but I'd avoid it - that low speed hurts important skill checks like Jump, makes doing anything stealthy take forever, and makes mobility on the battlefield fairly subpar.

Fighter rogues can be pretty awesome. Like another poster said, start with the rogue for skill points.

I have made thuis build with a half orc. You have plenty to skill points, so the int penalty isn't that horrible. The strenght can help you get more damage and hit more. Dark vision comes in handy when sneaking at night.

I guess human also works because of the bonus feat.

Halfling can be pretty nice if you keep rogue levels (for sneak attack) high. Think about it: with weapon finesse, +1 size bonus on attacks.. Will give you a very decent to hit.

If you plan on doing trapfinding, Human is good because of the Able Learner feat, which lets you buy cross-class skill ranks for one skill point instead of two.

rogues are already proficient with the rapier, all they would get from elf is longbow and longsword, maybe bonuses on will saves against enchantment and half the required sleep. (4 hours is better than 8) ask if he will let you treat rapiers as a light weapon (thier goodies might as well make them light weaposn) 2 keen rapiers, telling blow, vicious, and a few other enchantments might be awesome.

Right... I don't know why I included rapier in that. Anyway, it's hard to say if thats' a boon, since the OP didn't define what kind of two-weapon style was planned. Longsword and shortsword? Rapier and dirk? Rapier and handaxe? Longsword and throwing-axe? All of these are fun variations, although obviously some work better than others.

On the other hand... a Strongheart Halfling would get the bonus feat like a human would plus the other Halfling traits with the exception of the +1 to saves... so... if you like that Human bonus feat... you could still get it with a Halfling plus the other possible benefits that a Halfling would have, although, still incurring the disadvantages you mentioned. It all depends on what the OP wants, I guess (too bad there hasn't been any feedback to any of the suggestions thus far).

I will be weilding a longsword, dagger combo. I realize it is not the most efficent weapons for the job, but it fits the personality concept for the character. The feat was one of the reasons I chose human, but how I'll have to re evaluate the halfling as a viable canidate. Rogue of course was always going to be my first class for all those nice skill points, how could it be any other way .
