I want to know if the effects of "inspire competence" ( a +2 to attack rolls and damage rolls- bardic music effect) and the spell "good hope" ( +2 to attack/damage/ saving rolls) stack. In other words, if both are in effect, would it be a +4 to the attack rolls and damage rolls?![]() |

To be affected, an ally must be able to hear the bard sing. The effect lasts for as long as the ally hears the bard sing and for 5 rounds thereafter. An affected ally receives a +1 morale bonus on saving throws against charm and fear effects and a +1 morale bonus on attack and weapon damage rolls. At 8th level, and every six bard levels thereafter, this bonus increases by 1 (+2 at 8th, +3 at 14th, and +4 at 20th). Inspire courage is a mind-affecting ability. Good Hope: This spell instills powerful hope in the subjects. Each affected creature gains a +2 morale bonus on saving throws, attack rolls, ability checks, skill checks, and weapon damage rolls. Bolding is my emphasis. Bonuses of the same type do not stack, and only the highest of that type to each check applies. So you would have +2 to hit, damage, ability checks, skill checks, and saving throws. |

This is making me think back to my last 3.5 campaign I played. My bard 10/seeker of the song 16 was the most fun I've ever had playing D&D. I remember when I joined my group for the first time and I started in the middle of the campaign at level 10 or something and I said, "Ok so take +7 to your attack and damage and you gain 27 temporary hit points. The fighter stood up, came over to me and gave me a hug. Then said, "I power attack for full." The seeker of the song was an awesome class, it made it so the cleric could take more combat spells since at level 16 as a swift action I could heal an ally 38-58 hit points. lol I think I had 2 or 3 extra bardic music feats. My DM hated the fact he had to restat his whole adventure because I joined. :p Edit: I found my old character sheet, here are some total cheese spells that will make your allies love, and your DM - hate, you. 1st level spell: Inspirational Boost (swift), +1 to inspire courage ability 2nd level spell: Elation (from book of exalted deeds), this is a great spell that gives ALL allies a DIVINE bonus (so it stacks with almost anything they are wearing) +2 STR/+2 DEX +5' movement Harmonize: Sing as a move action for 1/minute/level (races of stone) Whirling Blade is a great one too if you can get it. It's a cool attack power you'll use a lot earlier in the game. 3rd level spell: Harmonic Chorus: one ally, 1/rd/level, +2 caster level and +2 spell DC's (I had an extend rod for this one! it made our spirit shaman amazing!) I barely touched my 4th level Greater invisibility as I became a Seeker after that and it was much cooler singing two songs at the same time to give allies the Inspier Courage and Greatness, then the next round giving everyone fire resist (or ice) and making everyone immune to disease and poison and being able as a swift action to throw cones of fire or lines of ice, or healing an average of 45 hit points by refraining your songs. (get the choker of eloquence and doves harp!) |
